Brand new 1/72 scale diecast model of the Supermarine Spitfire T.9 Aircraft "MJ627, Biggin Hill Heritage Hangar" from the Royal Canadian Air Force by Corgi. This highly detailed model comes in a brand new box with true-to-scale exterior detailing, display stand, and officially licensed packaging. Constructed from diecast metal and plastic for durability and a realistic feel, it measures approximately Length-5.5, Wingspan-6.25 inches. The Supermarine Spitfire MJ627 was originally built as a single-seat Mk.IX fighter in 1944 and served with the RCAF’s No. 441 Squadron, part of the 2nd Tactical Air Force supporting Allied ground forces after D-Day. The aircraft participated in patrols, ground attacks, and escort missions over northwest Europe, recording a confirmed aerial victory on September 27, 1944, when F/O H.S. Umphrey shot down a Messerschmitt Bf 109 over Nijmegen. Postwar, MJ627 was converted into a two-seat Spitfire T9 trainer, retaining original wartime features while adding a second cockpit for training and passenger flights. Today, it is operated by the Biggin Hill Heritage Hangar as Spitfire LF Mk.IXc "9G-Q," preserving its wartime legacy and offering a living tribute to the pilots of No. 441 Squadron. This 1:72 scale model faithfully replicates the aircraft’s dual-seat configuration, historic markings, and intricate details, making it an ideal collectible for aviation enthusiasts and a fitting homage to both WWII service and modern restoration efforts.
