About this product
What do Aphex Twin, Tom Waits and Crowhurst have in common besides vast and challenging discographies? They've all at one point collaborated with Gavin Bryars, one of the world's most important and celebrated living composers. Recorded in an 18th century hotel in the French Pyrenees, the new album by Crowhurst recomposes and gives new life to elements of released and unreleased works by Bryars. The end result are pieces that feel as close to the symphonic drone of Monoliths-era Sunn 0))) as they do to Bryars' collaborations with Brian Eno on Discreet Music or his masterwork 'The Sinking Of The Titanic'. Both artists have consistently pushed the boundaries of their respective idioms, and together the result is a shimmering orchestra of desolation akin to Trent Reznor's finest ambient work. String sections ring out and resonate against metal and church bells sing and whimper. As elegant as it is bleak, InchIncoherent American NarrativeInch speaks to both the past and present artistic statements of both artists and solidifies Crowhurst as the Nine Inch Nails of the post internet generation. InchIncoherent American NarrativeInch is available as CD Digipak and Gatefold LP (180g, black or gold vinyl).

Tortured and broken, Crowhurst is a shapeshifter in extreme music; from noise to drone, sludge to black metal. Each piece of music is it's own distinct page in Jay Gambit's story, working as an exploration and expression of pain. With contributing pieces from scores of renown artists, Crowhurst stands as a testament to his ability to weave ethereal, engaging soundscapes without falling into the trap which befalls so many prolific artists - predictability. Over 75 releases, many of which are singles and splits with other established artists, yet each body of work remains a dynamic, disorienting exploration unlike the last. His music weaves influence from varying genres across decades, while being shaped by his love affair with cinema and documentaries. Every tells it's own story, with each song standing as it's own character unfolding. With 2 performances at Roadburn 2019 and a flock of eager fans, Crowhurst shines as a jewel in the black metal and noise community. Beginning as a strictly experimental project, Crowhurst grew to encompass various collaborations with artists and producers such as Jack Shirley (Deafheaven, Oathbreaker), who engineered & produced 2015's InchIInch. The 2016 follow up, InchIIInch was recorded in Manchester, England and produced at Machines With Magnets (The Body, Daughters). Crowhurst finalizes their trilogy with InchIIIInch; co-written & performed by Andy Curtis-Brignell (Caïna) and recorded with legendary producer & engineer Kurt Ballou (Converge, Full Of Hell) at God City Studios in 2018, and is Crowhurst's Prophecy Productions debut. The effort features guest appearances from Tony Wakeford (Sol Invictus, Crisis), Ethan Lee McCarthy (Primitive Man), and Tara Vanflower (Lycia, Type O Negative) amongst a handful of other notables. InchIIIInch is a truly staggering record. Brutal and laced with pain, a new melodic structure unfolds itself

The three-way 'Los Angeles' collaboration was born out of a curiosity which just wouldn't die. Made up of two of the most illustrious and inventive drummers of the post-punk era, The Cure's Lol Tolhurst, and Budgie from Siouxsie & The Banshees and The Creatures, along with stellar producer and multi-instrumentalist Garret 'Jacknife' Lee, this unlikely alt-supergroup have spent the last four years spiriting up one of the most extraordinary albums to appear in 2023. Perusing the tracklist, with it's guest credits for, amongst others, LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy, Bobby Gillespie, Civil Rights avant-gardist Lonnie Holley, Starcrawler wildchild Arrow de Wilde and The Edge from U2, you may rightly wonder just what the 13-track long-player holds in store. The answer a hard-hitting and compulsively exploratory 55-minute electronic mindscrew, founded on unrivalled rhythmic expertise, fleshed out with an armory of synths, guitars (Jacknife's forte) and supplementary percussion, often overlaid with elite-class strings and brass, then universally twisted, manipulated and quite masterfully sculpted by Lee, with his super-producer's hat on.
