One day Joseph Hill had a vision, while riding a bus, of 1977 as a year of judgement- when two sevens clash- when past injusticeswould be avenged, a vision rooted in prophecies made by Marcus Garvey. Lyrics and melodies came into his head as he rode and thuswas born the song InchTwo Sevens Clash, Inch which became a massive hit in reggae circles both in Jamaica and abroad. The prophecies notedby the lyrics so profoundly captured the imagination of the people that on July 7, 1977- the day when sevens fully clashed (seventhday, seventh month, seventy-seventh year) a hush descended on Kingston; many people did not go outdoors, shops were closed, an airof foreboding and expectation permeated the city. After many years working as a buyer for several record stores, DJ Chintam opened his own Blow Up shop in 2018 in Tokyo's Shibuya district. A member of the Dayjam Crew and a specialist of soul, funk, rare groove and disco music, Chintam is also an expert of the home-brewed Wamono grooves. Established in 1969 by audio manufacturer Trio Electronics, now known as Kenwood, the tag - and it's subsidiaries such as Showboat and Trash - released high quality music spanning a large variety of genres including rock, jazz, fusion, soundtracks and popular songs, until it's end in 1984. Through the eight tracks selected here, Chintam unearths some dope drum breaks, heavy bass lines and funky horns, for an essential selection of jazz funk fusion and rare groove vibes produced on Trio between 1973 and 1981.Put the needle on the record, turn up the volume and dig right now into the Wamono sound - the cream of the Japanese jazz, funk, soul, rare groove and boogie music developed throughout the years since the sixties in Japan!

The group formed by the legendary Joseph Hill, accompanied by his two acolytes Albert Walker and Kenneth Dayes, delivers an album recorded at Mixing Lab and mixed at the Lion & Fox studio (reference studio for the RAS tag) in 1989.Recorded with 3 brass instruments, bass, drums, keyboards and percussion, it's in the pure roots tradition, with a few interesting dub twists. There's also a tribute to Bob Marley entitled 'Psalm of Bob Marley' and the excellent 'Cousin Rude Boy'.This is a pure roots album remastered to the highest standards, with a 350g cardboard sleeve showing off the full extent of Mitch Goldberg's graphic design. Never reissued on vinyl since it's , and only once on CD in the 90s.
