Cyrille Aimee - a Fleur de Peau - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Coming out of the burgeoning Latin Jazz scene of late 1960's Los Angeles and having released several albums, the popular Afro Latin Blues Quintet +1 would later morph into the Afro Soul-Tet to produce two highly collectible albums. As the liner notes to their first LP InchAfrodesiaInch stated InchThis is Afrodesia! a musical collage of many peoples...it comes from Africa and from Arabia, from the South Seas and from Asia.Inch the album featured an eclectic mix of Latin jazz, Tropicalia, hints of North African percussion, surf music, funk, rock, straight ahead jazz and oddball sound effects. On their rare second LP, InchAfrodesia Revisited,Inch the group offers more of the same with some psychedelia thrown in for good measure. A true collector's item finally available in the digital domain, all selections have been newly remastered.

The end of one chapter means the beginning of another. Like all the best cliffhangers, Cyrille Aimée Liveleaves the audience wanting more... but also eager to discover what comes next. Recorded at a typically lively and engaging performance at New York City's (Le) Poisson Rouge in August 2017, the album finds the acclaimed vocalist bidding a fond adieu to her long-standing band and looking forward to a brand-new phase in her life and career. The August performance marked the band's final show together, saying goodbye to this configuration of Aimée's band while welcoming a new chapter of creative output.

Cyrille Aimée singer/songwriter, performer/chanteuse of French and Dominican extraction cannot be neatly pigeonholed. She interprets tunes from the hallowed pens of Stephen Sondheim, Jimmy McHugh/Frank Loesser, Harry Revel, Juan Luis Guerra and others while also exhibiting the capacity to create touching musical moments from her life, such as Nine More Minutes. World? Jazz? Pop? Music. Just great music.
