- Description: From the liner notes all songs written, performed, and engineered by Dallas Jones recorded on July 9-11, 2010. Secondary recordings made and lost on July 16, 2010. Re-recorded on July 18, 2010 I knew that if I started telling people that I was making an album that weekend, I would be forced to do just that make an album. I put the word out on Friday morning, and my fate was sealed. I would now be held accountable. I started recording at 2pm that afternoon in my living room and concluded at 2 15 pm on Sunday. Regrettably, I did have to re-record a few things the following Friday (two drum tracks and two harmonica solos), because leaving them in their original state was simply unacceptable. However, in the midst of my personal triumph, I did the unthinkable I erased the entire project. Luckily the night before, Barak had the good sense to backup all of the files. But for the greater part of Friday evening, I honestly thought the entire album was gone for good. In that moment I decided that, regardless of what happened, everything would work out in the end. Life would go on. If necessary, I would start from scratch and record something new again, perhaps something entirely different from the album that had been created and lost in a weekend. I think it was in confronting this reality that the title for the album presented itself. There is something uniquely American about making something out of nothing... by yourself... especially in the face of adversity and almost certain defeat. Thank you, Brett, for reminding me of this. While this is not an album about patriotism or love of country per se, it has surely opened my eyes to the resolute spirit that resides in all of us, if only we choose to believe and look deep enough inside our hearts... and back up our files. Album Tracks 1. The Opener 2. I Won't Break 3. Kitchen Table 4. Don't Be Petty 5. I Love Y
