Dan Wilensky - Made in Portland - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

On Vessels of Wood and Earth, guitarist/composer Dan Wilson's debut album for legendary bassist/composer Christian McBride's Brother Mister tag (and the imprint's second ), the young player casts a groove so strong that, even when soloing, he propels the music irresistibly forward. Dan burst into the national spotlight when Joey DeFrancesco, one of the all-time greatest jazz organists, invited him to a coveted spot in his trio. Dan went on to tour with McBride's trio, Tip City, and on Vessels of Wood and Earth, Dan got to experience McBride as a producer.

The first song on guitarist/composer Dan Wilson's Things Eternal opens with a recorded voicemail from the late organist, personal mentor and dear friend Joey DeFrancesco, serving as a tribute, guiding light and mission statement. Throughout a curated selection of 12 songs, Wilson gathers hope and inspiration from ancestral wisdom, dedicated to the enduring quality of the human spirit. From unique takes on classics from The Beatles, Sting, Stevie Wonder, Michael Brecker, Freddie Hubbard and McCoy Tyner to original compositions, Wilson has crafted an impeccable statement for the world to take notice.

Vinyl LP pressing. 2013 collection from legendary San Francisco punk rock band Crime. YES, the rumors are true. The musicians that were 'punk' before it had a name. And then rejected the name. The band that was banned in every venue in San Francisco at one time or another. The visual image that burned holes in the minds of everyone who saw it. The lyrics that told the stories of love, hate, fear, attraction, repulsion, frustration, speed, pain, stupidity, boredom and murder. The songs that redefined 'hardcore.' the sound that drove half the audience to rush the stage, and the other half to run screaming from the room clutching their bleeding ears. The studio tracks that no record company had the balls to press into vinyl. The album that they said would never be made. Until now. At last. From San Francisco's First and Only Rock and Roll Band.
