It is no exaggeration to call Fritz Kreisler (1875-1962) one of the two or three most significant Austrian violinists in music history. Decades after his passing, his name remains a vibrant touchstone for music lovers worldwide. Viennese pianist Andrea Linsbauer, who has long immersed herself in Kreisler's enduring legacy, now unveils a singular project with the album InchFritz Kreisler's HeirsInch. Here, she gathers five of Austria's most celebrated violin virtuosos today Benjamin Schmid, Ekaterina Frolova, Leonhard Baumgartner, Christian Altenburger and Daniel Auner to offer their deeply personal interpretations of Kreisler's miniature masterworks. That these artists have been Andrea Linsbauer's recurring duo partners for years is evident in every note each performance resonates with the intimacy of shared musical dialogue, honoring Kreisler's own spirit of reinvention.

Probably the first question that arises in relation to the new recording of the Sei Solo (BWV 1001-1006) for solo violin by Johann Sebastian Bach is that of it's justification Since there are already numerous, sometimes legendary recordings of this work, why then another one? The answer lies in the recently published book InchAus der Seele muß man spielen...Inch (Vienna 2020), in which the author of this preface deals with the baroque theory of affect and it's effects on interpretation. The present recording by the Austrian violinist Daniel Auner is probably the first recording in which the principles of the theory of affect and musical rhetoric have been consistently implemented.
![Daniel Gaede - Hommage a Kreisler - COMPACT DISCS [CD]](https://pisces.bbystatic.com/image2/BestBuy_US/images/products/084f0720-e101-443e-92e6-c3450732a133.jpg;maxHeight=422;maxWidth=264?format=webp)
Gaede's Kreisler recording, on the other hand, is enchanting. The thirty-year-old violinist plays with a spirit we thought had died out. His playing technique is lit with a rare turn-of-the-century charm. He implores and pleads, he whistles, his chords sparkle, his frantic pace makes the violin laugh with merriment. Here is someone who has managed to regain Kreislerian innocence. (FonoForum)
