I missed Dark Sous when it originally released on the last generation of systems. All I heard at the time was how hard it was and that didn't interest me much because I don't have ample amounts of time to game these days and didn't want to spend it on something that would be frustrating...at the urging of a friend, I tried it out... And now I'm hooked. Yes Dark Souls is difficult. But I never feel it's cheap. There's a real distinction there because this game is a modern "old" game in which you will die, but you will also learn. And the quicker you pick up the enemy patterns and weaknesses the easier the game becomes. And thus you get a sense of accomplishment each time you clear a new area. That may not be for everyone, but if you are looking for that kind of challenge, check out this game.

If you haven't played this in any of its previous incarnations, Dark Souls is a 3rd Person action RPG set in a dark, seemingly post-apocalyptic, fantasy world with extremely challenging combat. You will die a lot in this game if you try to run through it quickly. The trick is no trick at all but to learn the controls, observe your enemies, and take your time fighting them intelligently. Defense is just as important in this game as offense; a mere hack and slash this is not. This remastered version does not add anything new but the higher resolution brings the details out nicely and more importantly, provide a consistent frame rate making for a much smoother experience than the original releases.

...that was this love/hate relationship between man(or woman) and game. This is where all the rage started. You broke like 2 Xbox controllers because of this game back then. Now you can revisit the nostalgia that is this game with better resolutions and performance overall!

I’m a long standing fan of darksouls and I love this. Do know the only real update is performance and resolution. Some paryocle effects have changed but that is about it. A lot of the textures are the same as well as the gameplay

So everyone knows how Dark Souls works. You DIE, a LOT. But, having the remastered version is visually pleasing beyond expectation. It sounds ridiculous, but watching things and playing games in high resolution is GOOD for the health of your eyes. Sure, that sounds like a gamer justifying his purchases for the betterment of his health, but it is true. By not having to strain my eyes over periods of long game play, you keep yourself from headaches brought on by insufficient lighting. Now, your sanity will be challenged by this family of games, but you already knew that. If you have the scratch to revisit this game in its remastered glory, DO IT!

The remastered game is so beautiful in the Xbox, especially if you have the X. This game is very hard, but satisfying when you get past the challenges.

One of the current console generation hardest game. if you love challenges and won't mind to die a lot, then this is the game for you.

I had this game on xbox 360 and its a good game but tough as nails! The graphics are nicely re-mastered as well but the game is NOT any easier then before! You have to make sure you are equipped with the right weapons, potions etc or you're dead meat!! LOL good luck!

hard as hell but fun, even though dark souls 3 is the best on, everyone should experience the first one

I enjoyed playing Dark Souls Remastered it is exactly like the original with the exception of the updates from the remastered. The biggest improvements I noticed while playing is smoother online play and fixing the frame rate issues while in Blighttown, If you missed the chance to play Dark Souls the first time around I'd recommend getting it.

The original Dark Souls was released on last generation hardware (PS3 and XBOX 360) close to eight years ago. This remaster of the game improves on a number of features. First the textures have improved and are significantly higher quality. Secondly the game takes advantage of the modern hardware and the game plays at a smooth frame rate, and is even better on the premium consoles (Xbox One X and PS4 Pro.) If you haven't played Dark Souls and you're looking to play it, these remasters are a good way to go. They essentially took all of the features in the PC/Steam release and added it to the Xbox One and PS4.

Great boss battles and with amazing pvp to duel against.

I've been a fan of From Soft since the original PlayStation when they came out with the King's Field games. I really love Demon Souls the first of the souls game (and one I wish they would remake/remaster) As for this one, Dark Souls, the game is great, runs really well, and is a serious challenge.

I can play this game over and over. This game is a masterpiece. Its fun, challenging, and exciting. Dont be discouraged by the rep that the series has as a hard game. Anyone can pick this game up if they are willing to learn. Its extremely rewarding each step of progress made.

I have enjoyed all 4 games in the Souls series (Demon souls and Dark Souls 1-3). This has probably been my favorite. I played the original on a PS3, and enjoyed thoroughly taking a walk down memory lane by playing the remastered version, played just like I remember the original.

Good game. Very hard lol. Been wanting to play this on next gen console and finally with this remaster.

This is a game not for those low on patience. You will lose, a lot, it is kind of the motto of the game, but nothing ever feels really cheap. When you do pull it off you will get satisfaction like you never got from a game.

THIS DARK SOULS GAME IS REMASTERED FOR GREAT GRAPHICS AND ADVENTURE FOR MATURE AGES. IF YOU LIKE A TOUGH AND CHALLENGING GAME, THIS IS THE ONE FOR YOU. THIS IS THE 1ST OF THE DARK SOULS INSTALLMENT, AGAIN WHICH IS REMASTERED.

It's great to finally have the trilogy on the new generation console. If you have played the original release you know what you are getting here. I really hope we eventually get demons souls in some form.
