About this product
First performed as a cycle of four operas in 1876, Wagner's visionary Der Ring des Nibelungen is one of the greatest works of art. Centred around a ring which offers it's bearer ultimate power and the attempts of various people to acquire it, the Ring cycle explores the relationship between love and earthly power and the themes of yearning and loss, all within a setting of medieval legend. The Prologue Das Theingold depicts the theft and subsequent surrender of the ring forged from the Rhinemaidens' gold by the Nibelung dwarf Alberich.

When Esmerine surfaced with La Lechuza in 2011, the album signaled many things The band's first new recordings in six years, an expanded line-up, and a song cycle inspired by and dedicated to the life and untimely death of a dear friend and fellow musician. Esmerine's 2013 album Dalmak emphatically confirms that the group has continued writing, exploring and collaborating.

Com when the complete set, originally released in 1983, was last reissued. InchThe Staatskapelle Dresden plays spotlessly for Marek Janowski... An excellent 'Ring' experience. Inch Now the remaining two music dramas from this acclaimed cycle are again available separately. Das Rheingold is dominated by Siegfried Nimsgern's vibrant, articulate Alberich, Peter Schreier's wonderfully vital, strikingly intelligent and articulate Loge and Theo Adam's experienced Wotan. But Fricka, the Giants and Rhinemaidens are all well cast, and the whole performance grips one's attention from start to finish. Inch
