About this product
An evocative and atmospheric first collection of solo piano improvisations InchBainbridge's style is contemporary, yet imbued with the dynamic spirit of Ravel and Debussy, with a thrilling dash of Bill Evans... an album that's pure class from first note to lastInch (Prog Magazine). InchEver since studying music, art and art history as teenager I've been fascinated by the French Impressionist movement, both in art and music. The idea of capturing a fleeting scene, a brief moment in time, or a feeling evoked by a place or a person, has resonated with me throughout my musical life. Most people can link powerful memories to a certain piece of music, a picture, an aroma. Even when my mam was unable to remember words or people's names as Alzheimer's took hold, she was still able to remember how to play tunes on her accordion. In a sense, all the pieces on this album are impressions, a brief moment in time interpreted through the medium of music.Inch Dave Bainbridge

The follow up to Dave's much acclaimed first solo album 'Veil of Gossamer' is in some ways an album he's always wanted to make. Inch... an album which really draws upon the excitement and exhilaration I first felt, listening to many of my early musical heros (Yes, Gentle Giant, David Sancious and Tone, The Mahavishnu Orchestra, Curved Air, Hatfield and The North, Deep Purple, Clannad, Mike Oldfield, The Enid, Keith Emerson, Allan Holdsworth, Alan Stivell, Ralph Vaughan-Williams to name but a few!). It was listening to all these great musicians and composers that first inspired me to become a musician and composerInch. Celestial Fire merges the Celtic, progressive, spiritual, folk-rock influenced soundscapes of IONA with a larger that usual dollop of what some might term 'progressive rock' type musical adventuring, where the emphasis is on great musicianship, new and classic sound combinations and evolving compositions with plenty of room for improvisation. Building on the foundations of what has gone past, but sounding fresh and new, this is music that transports you to another place. Music filled with passion and hope.

The bonus tracks are courtesy of Ian McLeish, Mouse hole Music NLC. The bonus tracks were edited and re-mastered by David Sampson, Mr. Stereo Productions. The liner notes are by Ian McLeish, adapted from an article by Nick Warburton and conversations with David Wiffen, Harvey Glatt and Sandy Crawley. In a 8-Panel booklet.
