David Cullen - Indigo Blue - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Guitarist David Cullen is backed by the Gabriel Chamber Ensemble. The unusual aspect to ths recording isn't the lovely work on Vvalidi's Concerto in D Major or the Quintet in E Major by Biccherini, but the unique pairing of the great musicians on cullen's own originals, and the classic jazz track InchBirdland.Inch

Classical/jazz guitar stylist David Cullen is joined on this outing by oboeist Jill Haley, who also plays English horn on a number. While this will appeal to New Age fans, the compositions and playing are much more interesting and aggressive than what is normally found in that genre. It's elegant, yet playful... a wonderful balance between head and heart! a great response from radio is expected on this CD - John Diliberto will be playing it on heavy rotation on his nationally syndicated InchEchoesInch show!

This is nylon string guitarist David Cullen's latest solo effort. This collection finds Cullen a bit funkier than past efforts - certainly more funky than most solo guitarists. He also pays tributes to jazz great Les McCann with a groovin' tune inspired by the pianist and named after him. Cullen also mixes things up with a couple of bossas and a samba.
