David Ware S. Quartet - Corridors and Parallels - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Perhaps one of avant garde jazz's most important horn players, David S Ware is still spreading the gospel with his newest album, BALLADWARE. This session reveals a rariofided side of the now defunct David S Ware Quartet, whose beauty and majesty transcends all notions of free jazz.

Over the course of a nearly three-decade career, Ware has come to be regarded as an elder statesman of NY's thriving Free Jazz scene. His spiritually charged playing and monstrous tone are present on InchThreadsInch, and the string work from rising classical star Daniel Bernard Roumain and world acclaimed string player Mat Maneri ranges from gritty to majestic. The digital synthesizer is alive under Matthew Shipp's command, and William Parker and Guillermo Brown approach Ware's music with sensitivity and understanding. Inch... I've had the idea for several years of working with strings and see it as a way to expand my concept of music. Strings have a natural universal quality, putting you in a subtle world of consciousness and spiritInch-David S. Ware.
