DCI Banks: Season Two - DVD [Standard] [2 Discs]

Based on the bestselling Inspector Banks novels by Peter Robinson, DCI BANKS follows the tenacious Detective Chief Inspector Alan Banks (Stephen Tompkinson, BALLYKISSANGEL) and his headstrong partner Annie Cabbott (Andrea Lowe, THE TUDORS) as they attempt to solve three gruesome crimes. Fire engulfs two canal boats in a deliberate act of arson over a million-dollar painting; a woman is found dead on the moors with her throat slashed in a case eerily close to the murder of a young girl in the center of town; and Chief Superintendent Rydell recruits Banks to find his missing teenage daughter.

A DCI Banks returns for it's grittiest season yet with an explosive serial crime story that weaves through all six episodes. When the victim of a frenzied attack is found in woodland, the team wonder if it s a random killing or related to the location a shrine to a local girl who recently committed suicide there. But when Banks uncovers a link to local crime boss Steve Richards, he formulates a theory of his own. Elsewhere what starts out as a missing person s case soon escalates into a kidnap and ransom. And Banks and the team have a painful job finding out how a recent tragedy occurred. While Chief Superintendent Anderson puts pressure on DI Helen Morton to close the case, Banks becomes increasingly certain this is all down to one man crime boss Steve Richards.

English detective DCI Alan Banks returns in this fourth series of the popular crime drama with three new, original stories. In What Will Survive, DCI Banks struggles to cope with the sudden death of his mother, as he investigates the murder of a young Estonian woman and the disappearance of her drug-dependent sister. In Buried, Banks must navigate difficult emotional territory when the body of an eminent lawyer is washed up in an underground river and he suspects a member of her grieving family is responsible for her death. In Ghosts, the body of a university student is found dumped in a ravine. His friends claim he was a model undergraduate, but officers Annie and Ken soon discover that he had a double life manufacturing ecstasy.
