About this product
Though Deerhoof long ago established itself as one of the greatest rock groups ever to stride the earth-and if you think that's hyperbole, you haven't spent enough time listening to Deerhoof-they once again discover previously unknown combinations of candy-coated riffs, sideways pop hooks, free-jazz freakouts, and surrealist humor. Joyful and foreboding, cybernetic and deeply human, carrying an implicit note of defiant optimism in their refusal to bow to convention or received wisdom. A firecrackers-for-breakfast, intercontinental-ballistic-blockparty, household-chemicals-that-should-never-be-mixed, electric-jolt-to-body-parts-and-brain-chemistry, combustible love-letter to the human race. Featuring special guest Saul Williams on one track.

Deerhoof / RUNNERS FOUR The Runners Four is Deerhoof's double-LP concept album about friends banding together as honorable outlaws in a corrupt world, deciding what to save in an apocalypse, passing secret messages of warning and hope from a remade future back to a soon-to-be-destroyed present. Abundant with lyrical allusions to the flood, where cargo hold claustrophobia inside meets a watery chaos outside, it was written and self-produced by Satomi Matsuzaki, John Dieterich, Chris Cohen and Greg Saunier while they holed up in a rented Oakland rehearsal room for the winter months 2004-'05. Reissused on Pink & Blue Vinyl Double LP!
Back in print on vinyl! Deerhoof debuts their new guitarist JohnDieterich and achieves widespread critical acclaim for the first time.2002's Reveille is a defiant expression of artistic rebirth, spillingover with madcap exuberance, apocalyptic imagery, newfoundtechnical confidence belying their no-budget DIY recordingmethods, and jarring stylistic about-faces in which no two songssound alike. The contrast of Satomi's ever-catchy, ever-charmingmelodiousness with John and Greg's noisy, cinematic bombast stillhas the power to thrill and tickle and upset, more than 20 yearsafter it's initial .Includes reimagined cover art with the faint morning glow the bandhad always envisioned, pressed on clear sun-colored vinyl.Complete lyrics included for the first time, written by Satomi on thecenter labels.
