If you're looking for good outdoor these are them. Right out the box they sound great. Break them in a for few hours tho end they'll really start to impress. The resonator is hands down the most genius idea for these. Just make sure they go in a way where that side hits a wall and it will make huge impressions on you and your guest. I have 4 of these up high in my garage now as well... All I do is listen up music and they bang really well. I likely could've done with 2 in here but I just couldn't leave it alone. You won't get hair raising lows but still it's nice. Add a subwoofer and you're set. I used a definite technology sc2000. Really packs a punch for being just under 12x12x12. Again, you want these.

These Aw6500 look good and are very sturdy. Havent installed them yet. But i have heard them before and sound great. I cant wait to install them. Going with a Sonos amp to power them. Nice size not too bulky. The packaging is great and prevents them from getting damaged in shipping.

I purchased 6 of these for my small restaurant driven by AudioSource AMP 1200 in bridged mode (80 RMS watts @ 8-ohms). Music or TV audio plays through them 12 hours a day – 7 days a week (mind you I’m using these indoors not out). They are mounted 11ft high, angled down towards the customers; each speaker covers about 400 sq ft. of sound Mounting them was super easy and the speaker swivel helps aim them. They only weigh about 10lbs and can be mounted vertical or horizontally. I used 50lbs rated - metal drywall anchors to mount these speakers on my ½” thick drywalls (I mounted it vertically so that I can aim up\down) The sensitivity of these speakers are high (92db), which is a good thing in that they do not require a lot of power for them to get loud; therefor I only have them turned about 50% of the way up to produce 55-58db of background music. During sporting events, I’ll turn it up about 70% of the volume (producing about 82-85db) so that they can still be heard over the cheering crowd. Trust me these speaker can go very loud without much effort. With the amp that I have powering these, the highs and mids sound crystal clear and no distortion at high volumes. The wall facing 5.5" x 10" low pass radiator speaker produces some bass (tight punch), but quickly fades away the further you get from the speaker. The bass is better than its outdoor competitor, but you’ll need a subwoofer if you want the lower frequencies, there’s just no way around that fact. Designed for outdoors, I see no issues of these going bad anytime soon using indoors and the 5 year factory warranty is a huge plus. I did test the speakers out with my Denon AVR Receiver (100 watts RMS) at home and sounded fantastic for music and movies. The bass is a bit more present in a smaller 4 closed walled room, but I’d still recommend a subwoofer if you are in search of a bit more bass. I would highly recommend these speakers for a residential and commercial use. *( The decibel readings and volume gain percentages are calculated based off of a specific listening environment, room size, listening position, and equipment used to power the speakers. All which will differ with other users)

The bass coming from these speakers are spectacular and the mid gives you the best clarity and vocals. I recommend these speakers, I purchased 2 to give that stereo sound I was looking for in my patio courtyard.

I’m a huge fan of definitive technology stuff and I do like the mids and highs on these speakers but definitely need power to push them. The bass is ok but you have to remember they are outdoor speakers

I spent a great deal of time searching for a good sounding outdoor speaker. I tried the Yamaha NS-AW390BL and they had no bass to speak of and the sound quality wasn't much better. I listened to the Klipsch AW 650 and they sounded good. I wasn't able to listen to the Def Tech's before purchasing so knowing my experience with Def Tech quality and reading tons of good reviews, I took a chance and ordered. This speaker has amazing sound quality and bass, even outdoors. I have these connected to a Sonos Connect amp. Since the speakers are 8 ohms they're only receiving 55 watts each. Even still these speakers are loud and are a audiophiles dream come true for outdoors. These speakers are a larger speaker, but still tucked neatly under my soffits. Sure these are a little more expensive than the others, but they are well worth the money. If you just want something to make some noise out side, don't waste the extra money on the Def Tech's. However, if you're an audiophile that enjoys a well balanced great sounding speaker, then AW6500's are what you want.

Super easy to install and sounds fantastic! One of the best outdoor speakers available. Absolutely an upgrade over the 5500. If you can fit it into your budget. Make sure you get this one. I compared both of them and the base response is better and the sensitivity is higher. Watt for watt can get a bit louder.

Great sound, quality product. Product came nicely packaged with detailed installation instructions. I have been a long time Definitive enthusiast so I had high hopes for these speakers. These speakers do not disappoint! I mounted them horizontally on the ceiling of our patio, which is just vinyl siding covering up the ceiling joists. We added "studs" between the joists so we could mount them onto solid wood. I put rubber washers between the bracket and the vinyl and there is no rattling or vibration of the siding. The design of the bracket makes for easy adjustment to ensure a straight and level installation. I mounted the bracket 7" from the wall. There is not much clearance between the speaker and the bracket so using banana plugs for the wires makes for a tight fit. Connected the speakers to Zone 2 of a Denon 2307, using an Apple Airport Express to play music from our iOS devices. The patio is 30x15 with another 50ft stretching out for the pool area - these speakers fill the whole space with crisp sound even when only using a moderate volume. We are extremely satisfied and would recommend these speakers to anyone who is sound quality conscious and looking to improve their outdoor space. You get what you pay for, and these are worth the money!

First of all, I received great service from my Magnolia rep, Jonathan, while comparing outdoor speaker options for my 1600 square foot Lanai and pool area. That's a lot of area to cover with speakers than can only face one direction away from neighbor's houses. I'm already a Definitive Technology fan with my home theater system, so the AW6500s were top of my speaker list being considered. Going with the 6 1/2-in version versus the 5 1/2-in version of these speakers is a no-brainer. Spend the extra money for the AW6500s. The 10-in bass radiator does a decent job of providing mid-bass notes not normally found in traditional outdoor speakers. By no means does it replace the sound that a powered subwoofer would give you, but they are far better than standard outdoor speakers which cost way more. These AW6500 speakers project a broad, full spectrum soundstage with a hint of bass if properly mounted in the corner of an awning, and do a fantastic job filling 1600 square feet with clear sound. The bass radiators have to have a hard surface to reflect off of, such as a wall, otherwise they're not as effective. I will be wall mounting a slim powered subwoofer to help these speakers hit the lower end of the spectrum under 60 hz. These are powered by Sonos Amp which pushes them just fine.

Perfect outdoor speakers , great power 200W , good Bass MFR: 40 Hz – 30 kHz , very good neutral sound : flat response between 80 Hz to 20 kHz and perfect Sensitivity: 92 dB the big problem is if your wall is covered with wood, even by putting a foam plate between the support and the wall, the wall will shake a lot and worse cause a rumble noise, so I advise this speaker that if you have concrete walls

I picked up a pair of the AW6500 in a last minute decision. I was at Best Buy for a different reason but decided to take a look at their outdoor speakers. I wanted to listen to them but there was only the AW5500 on display, so the associate that came to help me kicked on the AW5500. Well, IT sounded pretty good, and when I say IT, that's because only one of the speakers was working, but just buy itself it sounded really good. So the associate says that the AW6500 were on sale and I figured if just that one AW5500 sounded good two of the 6500 should be even better. Got them home, hooked them up and hung them on a cross beam in my carport about 2 feet from my house with the bass towards the outside stucco wall so the bass could bounce off of it. I hooked them up to a older Sansui AU317 amp. that has a 50 watt output and then tied my IPod to it, put on some live blues tunes and cranked it up, WHAT A PERFECT MATCH!!!! The sound comes thru crystal clear, excellent highs and the bass is unbelievable for the size of the cabinets. The placement of the speakers really make a big difference too, because of the wood structure of the carport tied into the house, the bass really radiates thru out the carport, especially when I stand in the sweet spot where both speakers can be heard. One of the better choices I've made in a while.

Been wanting to install some speakers on my patio for a while, and picked these up from Magnolia/BestBuy on sale a couple months ago. They sound great and were pretty easy to install (I already had speaker wire run to the patio). It does not come with mounting hardware, so you have to pick up some screws and/or anchors from a hardware store, but the instructions does recommend what to get and how to install based on the type of wall to which you are mounting the speakers. The bracket separates from the speaker and is mounted to the wall first. The bracket is lightweight and easy to handle, so installing was a breeze. Then you attach the speakers to the bracket which was also very easy. I also like that the speakers can be tilted to optimally direct the sound.

I very rarely view items but I just had to this time. These speakers sound amazing!!! It hard to find outdoor speakers with good bass but these have it and then some. I had to turn the bass down these have so much punch. Only negative is one of the speaker cover keep coming loose but that's because there things punch. Not a big issue, a little caulking will fix it, don't plan on rver needing to take them off anydays. Highly recommend!!!

I've always been impressed with Definitive speakers. They seem to always be a little more expensive than some other brands but they just sound better to my ears. These outdoor models are no exception. Surprisingly good base and extremely good highs and midranges. They seem well constructed but ultimately time will tell about how well they last being outside in the elements. I've only owned them for a few weeks.

Excellent sounding speakers, very good bass for outdoor speaker only issue are two but not enough to reduce the five star rating, one is the speaker will vibrate when played at full maximum volume and two if you get the white speakers, the grills look a bit “weathered” compared to the color of the speaker.

I have a fairly large backyard and two of these provide enough volume to be heard everywhere. The bass radiators are amazing. No need for an outdoor sub. Powering them with my Yamaha receiver's second zone. These were recently named best outdoor speaker of 2023 by Crutchfield. You definitely get what you pay for with these. Worth the extra money

The grill on these keep popping off but other than that they sound awesome. I am happy with the quality of the sound. They have great bass but not for rap. You can pair these with a good subwoofer.

I’m a long time Definitive fan so when it came time to replace the Paradigm Stylus 370 speakers in my backyard the Definitive AW6500 were the only choice for me. These produce great highs and mid-range but where they really shine is in the lower end. They produce bass that my my former outdoor speakers just couldn’t achieve especially when positioned under an awning where the passive radiator can reflect off a wall.
