I have a 5.1 set up. I have this paired with Bowers & Wilkins 600s, B&W surround sound speakers, and a MartinLogan Dynamo 10 inch. Everything is running off a Marantz SR7007 (125 watts per channel) Receiver, slightly older model. I purchased this Definitive Technology Center speaker before I had surround sound and it sounded pretty good with just the floor standing speakers and sub, but I was not impressed. A lot of other reviewers stated that this speaker "blends" well with other brands. I agree with that but would also like to point out that it "blends" because it's bland. Granted, my other speakers are probably much nicer, I expected more out of this speaker given Definitive's history and the price point of this speaker. While listening to music, this speaker is pretty much nonexistent. It has zero treble or upper end clarity and disappointing mid range. However... it did blow me away in one area and one area only: BASS. This thing has bass for days and does replicate bass guitar and electric guitar VERY well. I listen to music way more than I watch movies, so I also want to be objective. When watching a movie, this speaker is pretty good. It can handle a tremendous amount of power without distorting, and the clarity of vocals goes to a whole other level with this speaker. I got this speaker open box for a fraction of the cost or I would have probably considered another brand. Good Center speakers tend to be very expensive. And the lower end ones look cool but are pointless. This one sort of splits the difference, so from that stand point it may be worth checking out when considering adding one to your set up. If you watch a lot of TV or movies, this will do the job. If you are an audiophile when it comes to music, don't waste your time. This is a $150-200 Center at best. I would never pay $700 for this speaker. If I could take it back, I would. For the money, you'd be better off going with a Klipsch or open box MartinLogan/Bowers & Wilkins. This speaker is definitely the weak link in my setup. I'm sort of at a good stopping point with what I've built out, but at some point this speaker will have to be replaced with a "real" Center. Pros: Heavy duty Great design Visually blends well with other brands Phenomenal bass Decent mid range Great Vocal clarity (for movies) Cons: Horrible when listening to music Terrible highs Priced way too high for what it delivers It's big (you'll need the right space for this) Overall... don't waste your time with this thing. This was my first time buying something Definitive Technology and I don't think I ever will again. For some, they may think this speaker is great. But if you have had a taste of other "premium" brands like I have, you'll think this speaker is a joke. It's not even close to Bowers & Wilkins or MartinLogan quality.

This center channel speaker is easily one of the clearest I have ever heard. Not harsh. Just very natural. The passive radiator enhances bass and helps this become a fuller range speaker. A steal at the sale price I paid. I have had Boston Acoustics, Polk, and lots of others. This one is the best I have owned and it is getting better as it is breaking in. Powered by an Integra DRX 3.4 receiver. Using Dirac Live room correction. Set the crossover at 80hz and enjoy.

Wife always complains about dialogue volume so purchased something I hoped would solve it. Extra bass is nice feature, brightens the dialogue from old center, large and heavy so make sure you have the room. Great deal as an open box would not purchase at full price.

This is by far the best center channel i have owned. It performs great and is crystal clear and also adds extra bass with the top bass woofer. I also got a great price.

I needed a center channel to finish my 5.1 set up and i was going crazy looking for the right match for my polk audio r200 mains and everything looked like i needed to dish out some good money for it. Best buy had this on a good sale and i said to my self “what do i have to loose” i can try it and if it sounds bad for not matching i can return it. Well after a nice calibration I can honestly say I’m happy not only for saving around 1k on the other options but because I’m happy with the sound and clear dialog and i can spend that extra money on a 3 channel amp for the fronts.

This is a replacement for my old DefTech center channel and I am happy with the output and price.

Careful cause if you’re receiver isn’t 4ohm stable on the center channel then I wouldn’t risk the safety of your amp. Other than that it’s got a 9” passive radiator that helps make it that much more diversified.

Big upgrade from my 30 year old Klipsch center speaker. Can now hear dialog and voices better.

A little pricey. However I wanted to upgrade my speakers to get a crisp quality sound that I wasn’t able to get with cheaper speakers. This along with other speakers made my sound come to life.

I use this speaker to replace a Klipsch center speaker
