Dentino,Karl - Tin Pan Alley Blues - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Beethoven / Serkin - Diabelli Variations [COMPACT DISCS] date 01/17/2008

Vinyl LP pressing. Snapped Ankles return to the forest, but it's not as they left it. Trees planted in neat rows. A well-ordered monoculture with access roads and heavy machinery. The smell of greenwashed money in the air. There's no sign of the ancient woodland they emerged from on debut album, Come Play The Trees. And it's far cry from the gentrified East London they found themselves hawking on Stunning Luxury. All is not well in the face of progress. Welcome to the Forest Of Your Problems. Even among the famously close-knit woodwose community there are factions forming. Meet The Business Imp, The Cornucopian, The Nemophile and The Protester. Each with their own motivations and belief systems. Their own sense of injustice contradictions, anxieties and guilt.

Named after the rough and ready bars where labourers gathered to drink and dance, barrelhouse was a raucous form of piano blues that got the juke joints swinging. From early pioneers such as Cow Cow Davenport and Speckled Red to the boogie-woogie legends Pete Johnson and Albert Ammons, this collection charts the rise and incredible influence of this good-time blues.01 Speckled Red The Dirty Dozen 03 11 02 Jimmy Yancey Slow And Easy Blues 02 3203 Cripple Clarence Lofton Strut That Thing 02 5604 Will Ezell Heifer Dust 02 57 05 Walter Roland Watcha Gonna Do? 02 5706 Cow Cow Davenport Cow Cow Blues 03 0807 Romeo Nelson Head Rag Hop 02 5608 Roosevelt Sykes 32-20 Blues 03 0709 Clarence InchPinetopInch Smith Pinetop's Boogie Woogie 03 1010 Skip James If You Haven't Any Hay Get On Down The Road 02 5211 Turner Parrish Fives 03 1612 Bert Mays You Can't Come In 03 0613 Meade Lux Lewis Honky Tonk Train Blues 02 5814 Charlie Spand Soon This Morning Blues 02 5615 Herve Duerson Avenue Strut 02 4716 Victoria Spivey Hoodoo Man Blues 02 3617 Henry Brown Henry Brown Blues 02 5718 Little Brother Montgomery Vicksburg Blues 02 5619 Jabo Williams Pratt City Blues 03 1920 Pete Johnson & Albert Ammons Barrelhouse Boogie 03 0121 Bob Call 31 Blues 02 3922 Freddie InchReddInch Nicholson You Gonna Miss Me Blues 03 0323 Montana Taylor Detroit Rocks 03 1924 Louise Johnson On The Wall 03 0025 Leroy Carr & Scrapper Blackwell Barrelhouse Woman No.2 02 39
