- Description: Gabriele Manca studied piano under Bruno Canino and composition under Giacomo Manzoni at the Conservatoryin Milan. He won the prize InchMusica nel nostro tempoCasaRICORDIInch, the prize InchNeue Generationin EuropaInch, WDR (Koln), Biennale Musica (Venice), Festival d'Automne (Paris) for the European Year ofMusic. In 2000 he obtained the Japan Foundation Uchida Fellowship, thanks to which he was able to workon the music for Noh Theatre at the Toho Gakuen University. His music has been played during the mostimportant concert series and festivals of new music. He has held numerous workshops, masterclasses andconferences at the Irino Foundation, the Senzoku University Tokyo, the Toho Gakuen University, the TokyoCollege of Music, the University of Melbourne and the Pontificia Universidad Catolica in Santiago, Chile,where from 2006 to 2013 he was visiting professor; since 2015 he has held several masterclasses at theCENART in Mexico City. He teaches composition at the Conservatory in Milan.Il dodicesimo studio was written in memory of Antonio Sardi de Letto, who, in 2008, had recorded the firsteleven piano studies on the CD Studi per il XXI secolo (InchStudies for the 21st CenturyInch). Senti! Aspetta! Wascomposed in two stages the first part was completed, for solo piano, between 2018 and 2019, to whichthe instrumental 'coda' was added in 2020, a sort of enormous 'reverberation' of what had been heardbefore. Offese fantastiche is a series of seven very short pieces for solo piano that each explore an elementarymusical idea that is presented radically in it's bare nakedness.

Around the Fur the follow-up to Deftones' passionate, aggressive Adrenaline, sees the California quartet expanding on the sheer rage of their earlier work, adding new, more sinister shades to their already extreme sound. The opening InchMy Own Summer (Shove It),Inch serves as an introduction to the album's sonic theme sinewy guitars and eerie whispers alternate with fast, violent crunch. Sepultura's Max Cavallero contributes guitar and vocals to InchHeadup,Inch while InchMXInch finds singer Chino trading off vocal lines with Annalynn Cunningham, (wife of Deftones' drummer Abe) in an acerbic take on the rock star mentality. Vocal acrobat Moreno attacks a variety of styles his breathy, psychotic recitations sound downright industrial, while the album's calmer, more brooding moments show his gift for haunting melody. Behind him, guitarist Stephen Carpenter's heavy wall of sound is astoundingly muscular, yet inspiringly agile. When Deftones' hellish fury hits full tilt, as it always does on this album, Moreno's voice erupts into screams which are best described as otherworldly, transforming this intense musical firestorm into a hurtling juggernaut of aggression.
