About this product

In 2022, Daniele 'Shield' Contrini of Rebirth Records proposed 'Paraiso' to the great man himself, a compilation honoring Alfredo's legacy. After Alfredo's passing in December 2024, the project was final; with artists rallying to honor his vision and memory. Before becoming a global clubbing hotspot, Ibiza embodied freedom-a place where sunrises blurred into sunsets and music became a way of life. In the 1950s and '60s, the island drew artists, hippies, and outsiders seeking escape and creative liberty. In 1976, Alfredo Fiorito, fleeing political repression in Argentina, arrived in Ibiza and stayed. A former music journalist, he soon began DJing at Amnesia, a farmhouse-turned-club where time bent and boundaries dissolved. With eclectic, genre-defying sets, Alfredo blended reggae, flamenco, soul, rock, and early house, crafting a hypnotic energy that captivated a generation.British DJs like Trevor Fung, Paul Oakenfold and Danny Rampling brought this 'Balearic Beat' back home. But Balearic wasn't a style it was a mindset. As DJ Leo Mas said, it was 'a state of mind,' where rhythm, spirit, and psychedelia merged.Other clubs like KU, Es Paradis, Pacha, and Lola's amplified the movement. Visual artists such as Yves Uro gave it a striking identity, and DJs like Cesar de Melero, DJ Pippi, and Jon Sa Trinxa carried the sound into a new era. Jose Padilla's sunset sessions at Cafe del Mar birthed chill-out music as breath, not just beat. But the 1990s brought change. Laws requiring roofs on clubs altered the open-air magic. Commercialization followed; freedom became luxury, and many pioneers left.Still, the Balearic spirit lives-raw and untamed. It pulses in hidden parties, intimate venues like Pikes and Hostal La Torre, and sacred places like Benirras and Las Dalias.Featuring 16 tracks of classic and true Balearic sound; alongside House & proto-House tracks that Mr. Fiorito spun,

Alfredo De La Fe - Alfredo - VINYL LP

Proudly presenting our reissue of a bonafide Latin classic from 1979 by the Cuban-born violinist Alfredo de la Fe. Based in New York and Colombia, Alfredo worked with some of the greats in Latin music including Eddie Palmieri, Willie Colon and Roberto Roena, alongside disco and soul icons like Sylvester and Aquarian Dream. His debut album, Alfredo, is sublime and comprises two distinct halves. The A-side is a fine outing of Latin dancefloor workouts, with Alfredo innovatively incorporating the violin as a key element of his songwriting. Take to 'Toca Alfredo Toca' or 'Charangueando' to hear Alfredo's violin solos placed centre stage, a unique dimension to Latin music which he helped to pioneer at the time.Side two though is where things get interesting and unexpected. 'Hot To Trot' is a string-laden, Latin groover with a heavy dose of disco-funk and bubbling Brazilian percussion. It is sheer genius and still ignites a dancefloor to this day. The track became a favourite with the iconic New York DJ Larry Levan and was spun in one of the ground zero blueprints of modern clubbing, the Paradise Garage. This tune has been a mainstay amongst DJs ever since it's , has featured on compilations by Louie Vegas, Dave Lee and Danny Krivit over the years and is a record that never leaves our bag. Other highlights include the cosmic, layered string, Latin jazz version of 'My Favourite Things' that opens into a psychedelic percussive jam and the mesmerising 'Que Rico Bailo Yo'. Also be sure to check the epic closer 'Canto Del Corazon', which fuses avant-garde elements into a bass-gliding funk before morphing into a brilliant Latin final section. This is a true masterpiece from the trailblazing InchEl violín de la salsaInch and one that deserves a place in every collection.

Paraiso: The True Spirit Of Ibiza: Bonus Sampler 2 - Paraiso: The True Spirit Of Ibiza: Bonus - 12-INCH SINGLE [12 inch Vinyl Single]

Following on from the 2LP of joyous DJ Alfredo selections, Rebirth follow up with the second of the sample EP's of rare, cherished and formerly unreleased gems.Kicking off with Dubtribe (Sound System) - 'Sunshine's Theme' which goes for big money on discogs if you can find a copy, next up Max Berlin - 'Elle Et Moi'. Really simple, minimal disco a la Giorgio Moroder or Cerrone, actually Max Berlin (Jean-Pierre Cerrone) IS Cerrone's brother! On the flip we have The Woodleigh Research Facility - 'Borderland' (Andrew Weatherall Mix). 'Borderland' is a beautiful collaboration between Woodleigh Research Facility's Nina Walsh and viola virtuoso Sarah Sarhandi. Andrew Weatherall set Sarah's strings to an energetic electro glam stomp. A cracking kosmische, motorik 'Pomp & Circumstance' march, with something of Depeche Mode / New Order about it. Finishing off the EP with some 90s UK deep house bliss from Acupressure - 'We Are the Future' (Instrumental Mix) again this goes for big money on the Cogs.Tracklisting A1 Dubtribe - Sunshine's ThemeA2 Max Berlin - Elle Et Moi (Instrumental Mix)B1 The Woodleigh Research Facility - Borderland (Andrew Weatherall Mix)B2 Acupressure - We Are the Future (Instrumental Mix)
