Don Broco - Technology - VINYL LP

Vinyl LP pressing. If 'Joy As An Act of Resistance.' was meant to detail the band's manifesto, then their highly anticipated third album Ultra Mono' - is the sound of Idles heading into battle, battering ram in hand, for those tenets. Sonically constructed to capture the feeling of a hip-hop record (Kenny Beats even helped with programming on several tracks), the songs double down on the vitriolic sneer and blunt social commentary of their past work. Not far beneath the surface of their self-admitted sloganeering lies a deeply complex and brutally relevant album that chews up cliches and spits them out as high art for the masses. Active presence and self-acceptance also stand at the core of 'Ultra Mono,' with much of the songwriting done on-the-spot in the recording booth, and the phrase 'I am I' serving as a lyrical and spiritual mantra throughout. Ultimately 'Ultra Mono' is a celebration of community. Album Tracks 1. War 2. Grounds 3. Mr. Motivator 4. Anxiety 5. Kill Them with Kindness 6. Model Village 7. Ne Touche Pas Moi 8. Carcinogenic 9. Can't Take My Story Away is a journey through the tangled threads of human connection. It flows through the quiet, secret conversations we have with ourselves, the way we reach out and connect to the world around us, and the slow, painful unraveling of ties to those who once held power over us. Yet in that unraveling, there is liberation-a lightness, a joy. It sings of being loved not in spite of your quirks, but because of them and there is a quiet strength running through this album-and a deep-rooted honesty. It speaks of the beauty of healthy relationships, while reminding that the truest story we own is the one we write for ourselves. Album Tracks 1. Can't Take My Story Away 2. Growing Roots 3. Anamanaguchi is a four-piece band from New York and Los Angeles made up of Peter Berkman, Ary Warnaar, James DeVito, and Luke Silas. They program and perform intensely emotional digital music, and also once sent a slice of pizza into space. Their new album, [USA], will be released on Polyvinyl Record Co. In 2019. Since forming in the mid-2000s, Anamanaguchi have been revered as pioneers in the homemade, video game world of chiptune music they combine a loud and fast live band with hyper-melodic squarewaves from hacked Nintendo hardware. Their earliest releases have been distributed on NES cartridges you can actually play, and in 2010 they created the official soundtrack to the Scott Pilgrim vs. The World game. In 2013, Anamanaguchi self-released the Endless Fantasy album backed by an out-of-control Kickstarter campaign that brought in $275,000, more than five times their goal. In 2016, they parodied corporate gaming culture by making a free game, including an original full-length soundtrack, titled Capsule Silence XXIV. Recently, they've collaborated on a single with the computer-generated Japanese pop star Hatsune Miku, and were the first independent artists to perform alongside her hologram on tour.
