American jazz musician, arranger, bandleader and composer Don Redman (uncle of saxophonist Dewey Redman), was musical prodigy who was proficient on all wind instruments ranging from trumpet to oboe as well as piano by the time he was 12 years old. Staring with the Fletcher Henderson orchestra in 1922, Redman became one of the central figures of big band swing music and one of the original innovators of the style. His arranging technique was highly sophisticated, and formed the basis of much big band jazz writing in the ensuing decades. Redman formed his own band in 1931 and during this decade released some of the best jazz arrangements of popular tunes ever committed to wax. Presented here is a collection of some of his finest recordings including InchAll Dressed Up And No Place to GoInch and InchHow High the Moon.Inch All selections newly remastered.

American jazz cornettist, composer, and bandleader Red Nichols is rumored to have appeared on over 4,000 recordings during the 1920s alone. In 1926 he and trombonist Miff Mole began recording with a variety of bands, most of them known as InchRed Nichols and His Five Pennies,Inch although very few of these groups were actually quintets. Alumnus of Nichols' bands include Jimmy Dorsey (alto sax and clarinet), Benny Goodman (clarinet), Glenn Miller (trombone), Jack Teagarden (trombone), Pee Wee Russell (clarinet), Joe Venuti (violin), Eddie Lang (banjo and guitar), and Gene Krupa (drums) - a veritable Who's Who of important white jazz musicians. Presented here is a 14 track collection of some of Nichols' greatest recordings. All selections newly remastered.
