Doug Paisley - Starter Home - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

On Doug Paisley's third album InchStrong FeelingsInch, featuring guest vocals from Mary Margaret O'Hara and contributions from Garth Hudson (The Band), the Toronto alt-country artist seeks refuge in the beauty of the romantic lyrical metaphors that have populated the country genre since at least the heyday of Hank Williams. Doug Paisley writes with a subtle beauty, with a steel-toed determination, with a twilit ache. Context, however, is everything in music. Otherwise, they wouldn't be songs; they'd be poetry. InchStrong FeelingsInch was originally released January 14, 2014 by US-based tag, No Quarter.1 Radio Girl2 Song My Love Can Sing3 It's Not Too Late (To Say Goodbye)4 Our Love5 What's Up Is Down6 Old Times7 Growing Souls8 To and Fro9 Where the Light Takes You10 Because I Love You

Doug's new record, Say What You Like, underscores his prowess as a songwriter, while exploring new sonic terrain with producer Afie Jurvanen (aka Bahamas). Distilled from more than 250 songs penned by Paisley over the last decade, the 11 tracks selected by Jurvanen combine folk, country and pop sensibilities to showcase his rich sense of melody and remarkable way with words. This is Doug at his best - honest, exposed, searching - comforting in his ability to communicate the universal in the struggles of the individual. In meditations on the disappointments and shortcomings of love, Paisley looks hard at middle age, and facing the time Inchwhen looking young is getting old.Inch InchWe're always somewhere in-between forever and walking away / we'll spend a lifetime, you and me, day by day.Inch One cannot help but get the sense from these songs that Paisley simply must write - it's about emotional survival and the process of working through. InchAs a songwriter these days,Inch Paisley reflected earlier this year, Inchthere's very little to gain and very little to lose so I am working only from the heart, there's no other motive.Inch It shows.Inch Album Tracks 1.
