About this product
2014 solo from the former guitarist for New Hampshire Psych outfit MMOSS. As one of the principal songwriters in MMOSS, Tuttle was integral in honing that band's signature sound of West Coast bummer harmonies wrapped taut around a sinewy and dreamy collision of hazy Psychedelia and motorik Krautrock. As the band dissolved, Tuttle began writing his way through the haze. There is definitely a bittersweet narrative going on throughout the record but with the strength of every single track the listener becomes the willing accomplice. Tuttle deftly forges a sound that all his, weaving nebulous jams into masterfully crafted pop gems. There is also heavy introspection here leading one to consider other artists who were terrific as the member of a band but that really excelled when they began releasing material under their own name.

Renowned for her Inchrich and deep sound as well as her virtuosity and exceptional enthusiasmInch (The Strad), violist Marina Thibeault invests the musical scene with an ever renewed fervor as a chamber musician, concert artist and soloist. Described as a violist with power, confidence and excellent performance skills (Peteris Vasks), she sails through the sometimes tumultuous waves of a carefully curated repertoire, approaching old and new works with the same commitment. Through her practice, she constantly questions the traditional place of the performer in order to embody a poetic approach as well as a quest to surpass herself physically and spiritually. With the album Viola Borealis (2022), Marina Thibeault was awarded the JUNO 2023 for Best Classical Album of the Year (large ensemble), featuring Orchestre de l'Agora conducted by Nicolas Ellis.

Doug's newest project, his entry in the Jazz Is Dead album series helmed by Adrian Younge and Ali Shaheed Muhammad, takes his unique and timeless art and places it within the context of a musical culture that has always taken cues from his 70s classics. There's no mistaking the musical mind that created legendary albums like Infant Eyes and Adam's Apple, but the encounter of that with the distinctive jazz-hip hop-funk-noir that is the Younge/Muhammad/JID trademark creates something worthy of comparison to Carn's past work but which could only have been made right now. One can detect nods to musical motifs by Carn's jazz peers that have served as frequent sample fodder, but his compositional and improvisational integrity remain indisputable throughout
