This brand new 1/72 scale plastic model represents the Germany StuG. III Ausf.A Tank "Michael Wittmann, LAH, Barbarossa" (1941), part of the "NEO Dragon Armor" Series by Dragon Models. It is a limited edition model in brand new packaging, featuring detailed exterior and true-to-scale accuracy. The model comes in a plastic display showcase and has pad-printed markings and placards that won’t fade or peel, with a protective display case to keep it in pristine condition. The dimensions are approximately 3.25 inches in length, 1.75 inches in width, and 1.5 inches in height. The Sturmgeschütz III Ausf.A was the first production model of Germany’s assault gun series, developed to provide direct fire support for infantry. Mounted with a 75mm short-barreled StuK 37 L/24 gun on the reliable Panzer III chassis, it combined a low profile, strong frontal armor, and compact design to effectively neutralize enemy bunkers, machine-gun nests, and lightly armored vehicles. Entering service in 1940, the Ausf.A saw action in early campaigns in France and the Balkans, and in 1941 during Operation Barbarossa, it encountered the full intensity of mechanized warfare on the Eastern Front. One of its early commanders was Michael Wittmann, assigned to the Waffen-SS division “Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler,” whose crew used the StuG III Ausf.A to devastating effect in supporting infantry attacks, breaking Soviet fortifications, and engaging retreating forces during rapid advances. While the Ausf.A lacked the long-barreled, high-velocity guns of later models, it played a critical role in early German successes, with Wittmann gaining experience that would lay the foundation for his later legendary career in Tiger tanks. This 1:72 scale model faithfully captures the early-war configuration and battlefield presence of the StuG III Ausf.A, making it a finely detailed tribute for collectors, diorama builders, and enthusiasts of German armored history.
