This brand new 1/72 scale plastic model represents the Germany StuG. III Ausf.E Tank in Winter Camouflage from StuG.Abt. 202, Russia (1942), part of the "NEO Dragon Armor" Series by Dragon Models. It is a limited edition model in brand new packaging, featuring detailed exterior and true-to-scale accuracy. The model comes in a plastic display showcase and has pad-printed markings and placards that won’t fade or peel, with a protective display case to keep it in pristine condition. The dimensions are approximately 3.25 inches in length, 1.75 inches in width, and 1.5 inches in height. The Sturmgeschütz III Ausf.E was one of the early variants of Germany’s successful assault gun series, developed to support infantry with direct fire against enemy fortifications. Built on the Panzer III chassis, the Ausf.E featured an improved superstructure layout, enhanced crew protection, and was armed with a short-barreled 75mm StuK 37 L/24 gun optimized for high-explosive rounds. It also included a redesigned internal loader’s compartment and an added machine gun for close defense. By the winter of 1942, the Eastern Front had become a brutal, frozen battlefield, and StuG III Ausf.E vehicles, camouflaged in whitewash or mottled patterns, were deployed extensively during German offensives and defensive operations. In the harsh conditions of southern Russia, particularly near Stalingrad and the Don River, these vehicles provided crucial fire support to Wehrmacht infantry against entrenched Soviet positions in both urban and rural environments. While originally designed for infantry support, StuG IIIs increasingly faced enemy armor, and although the short-barreled gun struggled against tanks like the T-34, the vehicles remained effective in ambushes, close-range engagements, and targeting soft-skinned vehicles and artillery. Their low silhouette, reliability, and adaptability in winter warfare cemented the StuG III’s reputation as a versatile armored platform. This 1:72 scale model captures the vehicle’s rugged silhouette and battlefield adaptation in striking detail, making it an essential addition for collectors and enthusiasts of WWII armor or Eastern Front dioramas.
