About This Item

This brand new 1/72 scale plastic model represents the Germany StuG.III Ausf.G Early Production Tank with Schürzen #201 from StuG Brigade 242, Italy (1943), part of the "NEO Dragon Armor" Series by Dragon Models. It is a limited edition model in brand new packaging, featuring detailed exterior and true-to-scale accuracy. The model comes in a plastic display showcase and has pad-printed markings and placards that won’t fade or peel, with a protective display case to keep it in pristine condition. The dimensions are approximately 3 inches in length (3.5 inches with cannon), 1.75 inches in width, and 1.5 inches in height. The Sturmgeschütz III (StuG III) Ausf. G, an early production model, became a pivotal asset for German forces during World War II. Initially designed as an infantry support vehicle, the StuG III evolved into one of the Wehrmacht’s primary tank destroyers. Introduced in late 1942, the Ausf. G was equipped with the powerful 75mm StuK 40 L/48 gun and additional armor plating, while the addition of Schürzen side skirts enhanced protection against anti-tank rounds and infantry attacks. StuG units, like StuG Brigade 242, were deployed extensively to reinforce German lines against growing Allied pressure. In 1943, StuG Brigade 242 operated in the challenging Italian Campaign, where the rugged and mountainous terrain hindered conventional tank operations. The StuG III’s low profile and versatile firepower allowed it to function effectively as both a tank destroyer and infantry support weapon, engaging Allied Sherman and Churchill tanks to delay advances and inflict substantial damage. Throughout the campaign, StuG Brigade 242’s vehicles demonstrated defensive resilience, using ambush tactics and defensive lines while relying on their low silhouette and Schürzen armor skirts for protection against anti-tank rifles and shaped charges. Despite increasing risks from Allied air superiority and more advanced armor, these StuGs played a critical role in multiple defensive actions, exemplifying German armored ingenuity and tenacity. This finely detailed 1:72 scale model faithfully captures the vehicle’s design and historical impact, making it an ideal piece for collectors and enthusiasts of World War II military history.
