Draksler - Somit - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Anton Dressler writes of his new InchThis album is a result of a long term dream to unite natural sound of the clarinet and it's electronic elaboration and to form a unique symbiosis where each part is enriched by interacting with the other. Myself, my clarinet techniques and my equipment evolve together in creating InchLivemovement,Inch a modular concert program performed live. A beautiful world has unfolded in front of me. Sonorities, voices, lines, echoes have conquered my imagination. This is an exciting journey between improvisation and composition, from the only voice towards polyphonic reflections- exploring and expanding the possibilities of the instrument and beyond, going further to seek that perfect place where space and time become actually the sound.Inch

Another album in the Anthology of Polish A Cappella Music series was being created on the eve of the first anniversary of Juliusz Luciuk's death. This time, the 'Collegium Cantorum' Choir of the Czestochowa Philharmonic reached for the internationally unique work Vesperae in assumptione Beatae Mariae Virginis - Vespers on the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. While researching the output of the Czestochowa-Cracow composer one can sense his individual style, based on a few indefeasible pillars. One of them is profound respect for tradition, with particular emphasis on the Gregorian chant, both in terms of the melodic solutions of the monody and the entire culture and performance conditions surrounding the chant. Other pillars of his work are the quest for colour in harmony and the peculiar simplicity of emotions reflecting the composer's personality. The Vespers presented on this album can be considered the quintessence of the style of Juliusz Luciuk, an artist who was particularly passionate about sacred music.

Digitally remastered edition. Laurie Spiegel's second full-length album, Unseen Worlds, arrived just over ten years after her debut album. Having realized the pieces found on The Expanding Universe (1980) on an instrument no longer available to her, the GROOVE System at Bell Laboratories, Spiegel moved on to composing and developing for the Alles Machine, alphaSyntauri, McLeyvier and various other instruments before creating an instrument entirely her own. Spiegel created InchMusic Mouse - An Intelligent InstrumentInch on a Macintosh 512k so that she could have an instrument that was not general purpose but a small, specialized, and well defined musical instrument for and by her that she did not have to compromise on or risk losing access to it. While it was a very personal instrument for Spiegel, demand among friends and colleagues nevertheless grew until InchMusic Mouse - An Intelligent InstrumentInch became a commercial product for the Macintosh, Amiga, and Atari personal computers with a devoted popular following that continues to this day, despite the obsoletion of those platforms. At the time of her Unseen Worlds album's original in 1991, the issuing record tag turned out to be going out of business, dissolved and disappeared, sending the album immediately into obscurity. Outside of a private CD edition issued by Spiegel on her own Aesthetic Engineering tag in 1994, this new edition represents the first proper commercial of Unseen Worlds.
