Drown in Sulphur - Dark Secrets Of The Soul - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

'On his second album InchSubaqueousInch under The Drown moniker, Portland's Funeral Doom extremist Markov Soroka - also the heart and soul of Tchornobog and Aureole - sets out to absorb all light and in the process creates realms of fluorescent beauty. While celebrating surges of darkness and disturbance through Tchornobog, the obsessively driven artist offers a different facet of his persona via Drown. Although the foundation of the music is uncompromisingly heavy and grief-laden, it is carried by a current of playful melodies and weightless harmonies. These forces combined create a relentless maelstrom into the depths of the sea. Produced by Greg Chandler (Esoteric), who is no stranger to funeral doom metal, InchSubaqueousInch is a jewel that shines brightly within this still rather obscure genre. As Markov frankly states InchDrown is what I wished 'aquatic doom' sounded like before I started the project.Inch Just as his other ventures, Drown is based on an ongoing conceptual story and to be seen as a musical theater of sorts, focussing on one protagonist among other characters. Since such stories can work on a metaphorical level too, Markov says InchThe drowning of our lives is as much a metaphor as it is a construct to escape into on this album. The common woe of human life are the various forms of grief and depression we feel as loss.Inch The water filling the protagonist's lungs not only crushes them; they make him one with the ocean deep... InchSubaqueousInch is available as Digipak CD and Gatefold LP (black, limited transparent blue).

Angry, intense lyrics and reflections on society fill this album, addressing topics such as violence and a tough life of crime. This lyrical vehemence enhances Ice-T's storytelling.

Drown is, alongsides Aureole and Tchornobog, a centerpiece in the work of Ukrainian born mastermind Markov Soroka. The singular album'Unsleep' is a five part doom metal masterpiece which was originally released in 2014 under the moniker of Slow. The record follows the story of a man who commits suicide by drowning, and the journey of his body and spirit forever spiraling into the depths of the ocean. Melodic and infinitely creepy, it set the stage for Soroka's later releases of Aureole and Tchornobog, all of which explore the same narrative world. InchIt's draining and unsettling, but also brings a surreal sense of melancholic beauty with it, in the form of it's occasional glimmers of hope.Inch - Amino. InchUnsleepInch is reissued now by Lupus Lounge / Prophecy Productions on LP (black and ltd. Blue) and CD Digipak. These editions mark the first physical of InchUnsleepInch under The Drown banner.
