The Belgians are Europe's Americans. (Michel Houellebecq) Belgium was living in tune with America in the Fifties, and it chose to be modern in 1958, the Brussels Atomium would house the Universal Exhibition. And Belgium saw a whole generation of bebop-influenced jazzmen, all exceptional players, rising to prominence on the scene in Europe. Their names were Bobby Jaspar, René Thomas, Jacques Pelzer, Jack Sels, Toots Thielemans and Fats Sadi. This anthology provides the chance to discover their first recordings.
