... The Duo Favori masterfully opens the listener's ears for the gentle nuances and colors of Mertz's character pieces. This CD can be recommended to music nerds, guitar specialists and romantics alike, and without reservation. (HiFiVision) InchDuo Favori give US the most complete look yet at romantic virtuoso Johann Kaspar Mertz's guitar duets (two opera pastiches were omitted). New to disc are two wonderful pieces 'Der Ball', a program of sorts that leads the listener via waltz and polka through an abridged dance ball, and the gorgeously arpeggiated 'Wasserfahrt am Traunsee' (...) What Duo Favori have is beautiful sound. Recorded with valve microphones (unlike the modern transistor kind), the guitars spill over in warmth and telling detail. All guitar recordings should sound so rich. Combined with solid playing and several premieres, Duo Favori have a disc that can't go wrong.Inch (American Record Guide) Album Tracks 1.
