Dvorak / Bosch - Symphony 1 - SUPER-AUDIO CD [Super Audio CD (SACD)]

Coviello's much-praised Dvorák cycle is complete! Marcus Bosch and the Staatsphilharmonie Nürnberg have waited for the finale to present the second symphony and now combine it with the symphonic poem 'The Golden Spinning Wheel,' written about thirty years later. In the story, which is based on a poem found in Kytice, a collection of folk ballads by Karel Jaromir Erben, a king happens upon a young lady while out riding and falls in love with her. But when the king asks the lady's step mother to bring her to his castle, she murders the girl and presents her own daughter to the king. The bloody tale is unique in Dvorak's oeuvre. German conductor Marcus Bosch began his tenure with the Staatsphilharmonie Nurnberg in 2011. He also currently serves as professor of conducting at the Musikhochschule Munchen.

The Staatsphilharmonie Nurnberg under the direction of Marcus Bosch present their latest recording The Symphony No. 5 by Antonin Dvorak. The fifth symphony was composed in the year 1875 and was first performed 4 years after it was written. The symphony is complemented on this album by Holoubek's piece The wild Dove.

This marks the first appearance of the chief conductor of the German radio philharmonic orchestra, Karel Mark Chichon, on the SWR music tag, and for his debut, the young London-born conductor has done nothing less than a complete recording of the symphonies of Anton Dvorak. but that's not all! in addition to the symphonies are other orchestral works of the Czech master, as is the case here with the early, Slavic-patriotic themed rhapsody, op. 14. future releases will include all the overtures and interludes from Dvorak's operas - works of exquisite beauty, but rarely appearing on recordings.
