Eerie Wanda - Internal Radio - Lavender - VINYL LP

For Dutch/Croatian songwriter and visual artist Marina Tadic, Pet Town represents time well spent in one's own shell. Her second LP as Eerie Wanda (and first for Joyful Noise Recordings), Pet Town is a stripped down spectral manifestation, anchored by Tadic's wistful lyrics and self possessed vocal delivery. Mixed by producer Jasper Geluk, the album is perched in warm, homespun recordings-live drums are replaced with handclaps, finger snaps, and a Roland-CR 78 drum machine, enhancing the music's tactile and intimate headspace. Using minimal recording techniques, Tadic shaped these ten songs on sheer intuition, while drawing inspiration from solitude how it can be both a state of euphoria but also one of loneliness-of inner meditation and outer yearning. Tadic is still left guessing how Pet Town came to be, exactly. InchI wrote the songs over a period of time spent inside my shell, and I needed that time. Not escaping it brought me a lot of growth.Inch Like some mysterious shamanic voice from the future, Eerie Wanda hushes turbulent peaks and valleys into a comforting, deft equilibrium. InchI love to think I'm connected with some other dimension which sends me the songs and I can catch them if I'm in the right zone.Inch

Formed in late 2015, the trio's sound is at once melancholic, tense, noisy, and ultimately uplifting, laced with lyricism that ruminates on anxiety, grief, addiction, recovery, devotion, and heartache. InchVital ReturnInch captures the band channeling their love for R.E.M., New Order, Yo La Tengo, and C86 in addition to the twilight of classic post punk acts like the Cure and Echo & the Bunnymen.

Julian Bliss joins the Carducci String Quartet in performances of two seminal works - Weber's Clarinet Quintet in B flat Major, Op. 34 and Mozart's Clarinet Quintet in A Major, K.581. Both Mozart and Weber were inspired by the artisty of performers of their day (Anton Stadler in Mozart's case, and Heinrich Baermann in Weber's). Their technical prowess, tonal quality and imaginative range allowed each composer to expand the clarinet repertoire with these works, which remain pre-eminent in the genre. This is the second recording collaboration between Bliss and the Carducci String Quartet, following the 2016 of David Bruce's Gumboots and Brahms's Clarinet Quintet InchHere's a double delight. First, an engaging new work which deserves a place in the chamber repertory; second, a passionate account of Brahms's Clarinet Quintet which can hold it's head high against starrier competition... Bliss is in his element... for forthright Brahms and a toe-tapping new work, this is strongly recommended.Inch (Gramophone)
