Ef - WE SALUTE YOU, YOU AND YOU! - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

2017 . The diverse Minneapolis/St. Paul music scene has spawned an incredible array of brilliant musicians. Like many smaller markets, the Twin Cities seem to breed multi-dimensional musicians who are versed in many styles and are willing to try anything. Vector Families is a perfect example of this ethos, as three generations of forward thinking musicians have converged to deliver For Those About to Jazz/Rock, We Salute You. Drummer/composer Dave King is no stranger to the world of collaboration and eclecticism. While attending a performance in a local club, King was happily surprised to see bassist Anthony Cox on the bandstand. Cox had recently returned to the Midwest from a fruitful stretch in New York where he played with such luminaries as Geri Allen, Marty Ehrlich and John Scofield. This began a musical bond between Cox and King that has lasted 20 years. Cox was an obvious choice for any project and a chance to record with him would be special and long overdue. But so would working with the polymath and guitar genius Dean Granros, a Minneapolis creative music legend who has experimented in jazz, psychedelic rock and new music. The Vector Families lineup is completed by the fantastic saxophonist Brandon Wozniak.

Human wickedness has exceeded that of the Devil himself! It is this dark observation which is at the root of all the spice and comedy in the operetta Le Diable à Paris (The Devil in Paris). Premiering in 1927, it was unearthed by Les Frivolités Parisiennes ensemble, which has partnered with B Records fruitfully to make an album recording of a frolicsome version of this unusual work at the crossroads of art music and jazz. In 2012, musicians Benjamin El Arbi and Mathieu Franot formed InchLes Frivolités ParisiennesInch opera company. It promotes the French light opera repertoire of the Nineteenth and Twentieth Centuries, which combines singing, drama and dance, from comic-opera to music-hall. Formed with a chamber orchestra, Les Frivolités Parisiennes regularly calls on singers, conductors, directors and specialised musicologists. Every season, Les Frivolités Parisiennes produces premieres and original recreations, makes recordings, trains young singers in the performance of the repertoire and undertakes educational activities for the young. Les Frivolités Parisiennes company is associate artist of the Singer-Polignac Foundationand resident at the Compiègne Imperial Theater.

Double vinyl LP pressing with etching on Side D plus . 2017 , the fifth album from the alt-rock band. A Black Mile to the Surface is a bold record of vision and purpose, inspired by and dwelling in a sensory and imaginative experience. It's a reinvention of sorts, both musically and personally-a sort of cosmic worldview shift. But in the end, the record's themes are universal. To manifest this vision, the band turned to producer Catherine Marks (Foals, PJ Harvey, The Killers, Interpol) and began working with her at Echo Mountain studio in Asheville. Manchester Orchestra originated in the suburbs of Atlanta, Georgia. They are named after the English city of Manchester, a city frequently viewed as bohemian and rich in musical history (The Smiths, The Fall, The Buzzcocks, The Stone Roses, Joy Division, Oasis, New Order, Happy Mondays, Magazine).
