Einherjer - Aurora Borealis / Leve Vikinganden - VINYL LP

Tracy Nelson and her band Mother Earth mixed R&B, country, folk and rock in the late '60s and '70s; a decidedly straight forward style miles removed from most of the acts of the era. This Inchbest ofInch draws together 17 cuts from the band's Mercury and Reprise catalogs and features the seminal InchDown So LowInch (later recorded by Linda Ronstadt, Etta James and Maria Muldaur). The package contains a personal appreciation from Al Kooper and extensive historical essay.

With their eighth studio album North Star, Viking metallars Einherjer reinforce their status as pioneers of blending Nordic Black Metal and Folk Metal genres once again. The album marks the band's return to Napalm Records after 25 years, and the of the legendary Dragons Of The North album (1996). North Star was recorded in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic at the in-house Studio Borealis, owned by founding member and mastermind Frode Glesnes. The raw production ties in seamlessly with it's predecessor Norrøne Spor and makes North Star probably the most powerful Einherjer album to date! North Star is Einherjer's musical mission towards something bigger in a constantly changing world that is searching for stability. The album's opening track, InchThe Blood And The Iron,Inch peppered with uncompromising double-bass thunderstorms, pulls the listener in from the very first second, while InchStarsInch stomps through atmospheric soundscapes with dark chords. InchWest Coast GrooveInch underlines Einherjer's technical songwriting sophistication with stellar guitar solos.

Statement from the Composer Musical composition is the revelation of one's innermost being. Writing for voice is one of the most meaningful forms of musical expression. Most of my writing is based on personal experiences in my life memorializing a friend, the death of a child, a celebration of friendship, or other joyful occasions. My philosophy of vocal repertoire is the marriage of voice and piano, an equal partnership. Text is of ultimate importance. Text determines the mood, melody, style, and in the end, the accompaniment. It is my prayer that my music in some small way will be meaningful to those who hear and bring these texts to life.
