About this product
The Presses Universitaires de France and Frémeaux & Associés offer this biography of Léopold Sédar Senghor by Elara Bertho, CNRS researcher and specialist in the period of decolonization in West Africa. First African with a grammar degree, poet celebrated around the world, first president of Senegal, academician Senghor had all the honors. Accused of essentialism for having invented Negritude, of authoritarianism for having imprisoned his opponents, it is difficult today to paint a nuanced portrait of Senghor while doing justice to the great topicality of his poetic and philosophical thought. Yet it is this crest line that Elara Bertho takes, far from hagiography, far from anathemas. How can his thought of the universal and the dialogue of cultures still speak to us? How can his anti-capitalist critique of the Western world resonate with contemporary ecological struggles? Discovering Senghor, one is struck by the modernity of his thought socialism, negritude, universal, faith, are the key words of this man with a complex discourse, which one must take the time to read and understand.

David Bowie - Glass Spider (Live Montreal '87) [2018 Remaster] The tour's innovative set and marriage of music and theatre has been cited as a big inspiration to acts in the 2000s. Speaking in 1991 about 'Glass Spider' Bowie said, 'It was the first time I'd had the opportunity to spend that kind of money and do shows like that! The first time since Diamond Dogs, anyway.I thought, right! Let's really spend some money! I had all these thwarted dreams of what I'd tried to do with rock 'n roll in the early '70s'.

No buffo couple, no choruses, no dance scenes, and, most of all, no psychological conflict the action of Cloclo is not at all typical of Franz Lehár. It is a chamber operetta but more than a mirthful intermezzo for the lyrical opera Paganini it is it's comedic counterpart. The foxtrot InchIch habe La Garçonne gelesenInch became the operetta's hit at the premiere on 8 March 1924. It referred to Victor Margueritte's novel of the same name about a prototypical young woman of the 1920s who leads an independent existence, wears short dresses and sports a bobbed hairdo, and, to top it all, is a sexual libertine. Unanimously enthusiastic reviews followed last year after the semi-scenic performance on which our recording is based, and the Lehár Festival in Bad Ischl won the coveted InchOperettenfrosch July 2019Inch for this rewarding rediscovery. The Bavarian Radio, full of praise, raved InchMarius Burkhard in the meantime has reached an astonishing level with his Lehár Orchestra. His feel for the right tempos but especially his sense of the tonal values of Lehár's score attest to his status as one of today's best operetta conductors. And the most marvelous thing every member of the orchestra has obvious fun and a smile on her or his face. Don't be a frog, kiss him. The Operetta Editorial Staff is convinced and offers it's congratulations for great operetta courageousness.Inch
