Electric Confectionaires - Sweet Tooth - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

With Anchors, Chicago-based bass clarinetist-composer Jason Stein arises from a six-year hiatus as bandleader with his most personal, nuanced, and expansive album to date. It was created together with bassist Joshua Abrams (Natural Information Society, of which Stein has been a member since 2017), drummer Gerald Cleaver (whose bona fides run deep & wide), and guest artist/co-producer Boon. Anchors is a suite of great beauty and potency, moving from meditative calms to lyrical buoyancy to gripping intensity and again to a transformative peace found in unity. Anchors are, so often, symbolic of strength and stability. They reflect our capacity to steady ourselves in turbulent waters, allowing us to traverse the deepest seas. With anchors aboard, we can quell our fears, weather the storm, and chart forth. In all their looming weight, anchors allow us to be free. With Anchors, Jason Stein emerges with a luminous tribute to anchors of his own. Amidst the discomfort of transformation, he reaches into a reservoir of resilience and invites us to do the same.

Sweet - Desolation Boulevard [COMPACT DISCS] Extended Ed, UK - Import date 06/01/2018

2005 compilation features three bonus tracks, 'Restless', 'Set Me Free', & 'Burn on the Flame'.Sweet was one of the most successful UK bands of the 1970s. They started out with Funny Funny in 1971, a sing-along vocal pop hit and that same year they had another huge success with the clever pop song Coco, a song about a monkey, with sweet hooks and gorgeous harmonies. As the 1970s progressed, their sound evolved into a type of bubblegum metal, power pop or glam-rock, as on the brilliant Blockbuster, Hell Raiser and Ballroom Blitz. The very best tracks are the aforementioned, plus the amazing Fox on the Run. The album includes some of their best album tracks like Restless, Set Me Free and Burn on the Flame, that display Sweet's more serious hard rock side. Overall a very enjoyable mix of vocal and hard edged pop plus some serious glam rock excursions. BMG. 20 tracks.
