With A Constant Charade, Oakland artist and producer Elujay removes the mask from his multifaceted, genre-crossing craft. InchOne of the most talented singer-songwriters in the Bay AreaInch (Hypebeast) makes his solo debut on the art-forward indie tag drink sum wtr with a risk-embracing LP that follows nearly a decade of distinct work in the contemporary pop landscape. He sees his style as a fusion of unexpected flairs R&B stirred up with rhythms drawn from yacht rock, sophisti-pop, dancehall, Al Jeel, Lovers Rock, and the tones of his Trinidadian roots. He pushes the sound outward in various directions on A Constant Charade, a dynamic collection marked by vulnerability and ambition. Themes touch on social cues, behavioral loops, and the ways we perform for others, Inchjust noticing how I feel when I'm around people,Inch he says. Whether I'm code switching or acting differently... we all do it, it's a charade.Inch With his signature croon and strongest arrangements to date, joined by a cast of collaborators and co-producers, Elujay cuts through the games to get real. Recorded in various locations over a three-year period, A Constant Charade caps a breakout 2025 that started with the second installment of GEMS IN THE CORNERSTORE from JEMS!, his dsw-signed project with J. Robb. Like GEMS, the new album leans further into the influences of Caribbean music and leftfield electronic from dance to ambient and a dozen strains in between. Dario Lorina is best known most recently with working beside legendary guitarist Zakk Wylde in Black tag Society. Beyond logging thousands of miles on the road in the band, Dario shredded alongside Zakk Wylde on 2021's Doom Crew Inc. And accompanied the Black tag Society mastermind and six-string legend on the cover of Guitar World. As part of the latter, Wylde succinctly summed up his reason for bringing the rising guitar-slinger aboard, InchBecause Dario's awesome.Inch Along the way, he also unleashed two solo albums, namely Dario Lorina and Death Grip Tribulations. Throughout 2024, he carefully assembled what would become Spirit in the Glass, rounding out the lineup with Brody DeRozie, Mike Gunn, and Luis Silva and writing and recording out of his Las Vegas home studio a.k.a. THE Inspiral Carpets - along with the Stone Roses and the Happy Mondays - made their name as part of the whole 'Madchester' scene, with a string of classic singles and a lucrative line in iconic T-shirts. Between 1989 and 1995, the band notched up 15 hits and four Top 20 albums. In 2003, they re-formed and have been playing live ever since. In 2011, they reunited with original singer Stephen Holt. In September, the band unveil their first new album of studio material for two decades, simply entitled Inspiral Carpets. The album was recorded over the past year or so in Airtight Studios, Chorlton-cum-Hardy, south Manchester and has been mixed by Jim Spencer (The Charlatans, etc.). The album is fanfared by a brand new single, 'Spitfire', which is released at the end of August. The record also includes their previous Record Store Day single 'You're So Good for Me'. Another of the LP's highlights is the garage punk opus 'Let You Down', which boasts an amazing and unique cameo by special guest and legendary punk poet John Cooper Clarke! Both single and album will be supported by a media-wide campaign embracing TV, online, radio, press (national and regional) and social media.
