Elvis Presley - Original Album Classics - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Elvis 75 celebrates the 75th birthday of Elvis Presley and the life and music of the world's first rock and roll star. The three CD, 75 song collection is released four days before what would have been the King's 75th Birthday. Elvis 75 demonstrates Presley at his best. The collection runs from InchHeartbreak HotelInch - the classic that first made Elvis' name in the UK back in 1956, to the hugely popular InchA Little Less ConversationInch - the number 1 JXL remix that was released in 2002 and reaffirmed the British adoration for the hip-swivelling King of rock'n'roll. The selection features the biggest UK smash hits, encompassing many genres and amazingly all 75 of these songs were Top 20 hits!

'From Elvis In Memphis' was a No.1 album in 1969 and deservedly so. Here Elvis is approaching his peak as an artist having made his glorious 1968 T.V special. InchBack In MemphisInch continues in the same vein. InchInherit The WindInch and InchThis Is The StoryInch rank alongside InchTrue Love Travels On A Gravel RoadInch. These are probably The King's two best studio records. The legacy edition including 14 bonus tracks then concludes with a run through of the Elvis Presley singles from that time like InchMama Liked The RosesInch, InchSuspicious MindsInch, InchDon't Cry DaddyInch, InchRubberneckin'Inch (original version) and InchKentucky RainInch. Individually the albums were fantastic, put them together on this legacy set with the extras, and you have an unsurpassed master from InchThe King Of Rock And RollInch.

Following the unexpected massive success of Heartbreak Hotel, this was as startling a debut record as any ever made, representing every side of Elvis' musical influences except gospel rockabilly, blues, R&B, country, and pop were all here in an explosive and seductive combination. Elvis Presley became the first rock & roll album to reach the number one spot on the national charts, and RCA's first million dollar-earning pop album.
