Recorded in the historic ambience of the Village Vanguard in New York, The Extra Something is not just another by a prolific artist. Working with a first-class band, Pieranunzi combines core jazz values with a sense of structure and order that comes from classical music, but all of it animated by a strong sense of freedom.  Pieranunzi has risen to the ranks of the most significant contemporary musicians, a name to be placed alongside some of the greatest we have seen and heard.  The Extra Something contains approximately 60 minutes of original music composed by Enrico Pieranunzi. Album Tracks 1. Blue Afternoon 2. The Extra Something 3. Atoms 4. The Real You 5. Entropy 6. Song for Kenny 7. Five Plus Five

LIVE IN JAPAN continues Pieranunzi's encounter with the works of Italy's great film composer, Ennio Morricone. Pieranunzi worked in Roman film studios in the 70s and 80s and played on dozens of Morricone soundtracks. The recorded sound of this album deserves mention. Working in concert venues of medium size, engineer Danilo Rossi achieves sonic quality as vivid and detailed as the best studio recordings, yet captures the in-the-moment electricity of these live events.
