About this product

On their third CD, the outstanding concertante duo Reinhold Friedrich & Eriko Takezawa bring to life music that has hitherto lain dormant or not yet appeared in a deservedly splendid light. In their new CD production, the two exceptional artists present three new discoveries by Alexander Albrecht, Boris Asafiew and Harold Shapero, which are of the utmost importance for the trumpet-piano repertoire. Also noteworthy are the three important repertoire works, the sonatas by Thorwald Hansen, Jean Hubeau and George Antheil, which shine in completely new splendour here. The works are all set between the end of the Romantic period and the transition to the modern era. One can already speak of a historically important recording, as this is the last CD production in the IncholdInch Hans Rosbaud Studio in Baden-Baden before the building was demolished. This acoustically valuable space was home to the great and greatest composers of our time - from Olivier Messiaen to Jorg Widmann, from Bernd Alois Zimmermann and Karlheinz Stockhausen to Peter Eotvos and Wolfgang Rihm. This album Sonatae e Variacie certainly has the potential to become a milestone in the repertoire for trumpet and piano. Album Tracks 1. Variácie pre Trúbke a Klavír~Thema 2. Ensemble Labirinto Armonico - Trio Sonatas - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Johann Joachim Quantz wrote over 300 flute concertos for Frederick II, King of Prussia, works that have increasingly been recognized for their wealth of invention. Before his years in Berlin, however, Quantz had worked in Dresden where he wrote a series of trio sonatas. The genre had been codified by Arcangelo Corelli and was the most popular form of chamber music at the time. Quantz fashioned elegant dialogues between the instruments, fugal passages, the melodic element of the trios always highlighted next to the counterpoint. These concise, eloquent works blend styles and musical languages in a way that foreshadows his larger-scale concertos.

Ensemble Klingekunst Grossinger - Trattamento Dell'harmonia - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Hardly any biographical information about the composer Martin Christian Schultze has been handed down to us. On the cover of the Trattamento dell'harmonia, which was engraved and published in Paris in 1773, we find his name with the initials InchM. C.Inch and InchD. B.Inch (InchM. C. Schultze D. B.Inch), which according to the RISM signifies InchMartin Christian Schultze from Berlin.Inch The six symphonies contained in this collection may be understood as harmonic treatises. They have been written very much in the Italian style, and in them we find very many polyrhythmic elements running through all the movements - for example, frequent triplets against sixteenths. In addition, at the time Schultze must have had an outstanding gambist by his side who was able to render this extremely demanding gamba part. The violin part with many double stops and virtuosic passages likewise presupposes some talent. By contrast, the flute part more probably would have been written for an amateur. Here these pieces are interpreted by the Klingekunst Ensemble, whose members base their work on well-founded occupation with historical performance practice but also always assign foremost importance to vibrant musical communication. Ensemble Harmonia Urbis - Capriciosi affetti - The Venetian Sonata in the Sixteen Hundreds - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Capriciosi Affetti takes us on a journey around the instrumental sonata in early 17th-century Venice through two and three-part compositions with continuo by Biagio Marini, Giovanni Battista Fontana, Dario Castello, Giovanni Picchi, Giovanni Legrenzi, and Marco Uccellini. Ranging from the tradition of the Canzon da Sonar and the Musica a Ballo, our journey certifies the wealth of experimentation within the sonata concertante, with it's kaleidoscopic variety of contrasts. Along with the outcomes of vocal music, musing around the affetti played a pivotal part in the development of instrumental writing that was as idiomatic as it was advanced from a technical, timbral, and sound point of view. Composers called affetti those peculiar technical and execution modalities of expression through which instrumental music, lacking a written text, wished to give an abstract representation of the variety of accents and everchanging inflections within human passions and frames of mind Album Tracks 1. Sonata Decima Ottava a Doi Violini Op. 4 2. Sonata Settima a Due Violini 3. Sonata Sopra la Monica a 3 Op. 8 4. Sonata Decima a 3 5. Sonata Sopra Fuggi Op. 22 6. Canzona Quarta a Doi Violini 7.
