A very nice beginner guitar
This guitar is a very nice beginner guitar out-of-the-box. It's sounds ok, and would work if you're just learning and don't care so much about the quality of the sound. However, I highly recommend that you go to a local guitar place, like Guitar Center, and upgrade the saddle, bridge, pins, and the strings. I spent another $100 to upgrade the components and have it professionally tuned, and it made a HUGE difference. Either way, I would recommend this guitar to anyone that is starting out.
What I worried about buying without playing is that the machine-made imported units would not be accurate. Not to worry. Action was spot on from the factory and no tuning issues! I can only assume they've nailed the mechanical assembly and use a lot of automation to keep the wooden components right. Or I got lucky! Tone is not as good as a real Gibson, or a Taylor or Martin of similar design, but it's also a quarter of the cost.
