I firmly believe this is the best bang-for-your-buck home theater projector on the market. Fantastic image quality, staggeringly powerful brightness (even in ECO mode), and super easy to mount to the ceiling for home theater use. Only potential knocks are the fan is a little loud (less so in ECO), and its internal audio is weak, but those are non-factors if you're using passing your audio through separate audio components, which is a no-brainer. Similarly, I don't ding this for its lack of smart features, because a separate streaming or A/V device (in my case an Apple TV) is probably the only way any home theater projector should be used. Sure, if you're wealthy and want to drop thousands on a projector, you can do better, but this is perfect for my needs.

I wasn't sure what to expect with regard to brightness for an outdoor movie. I used the calculator on ProjectorCentral to calculate size and distance and get an estimate for brightness needed. We ordered a 100" fabric screen for this outdoor movie event. Other research said we needed 3000 lumens or better for outdoor use. Yesterday I set it up in the bright sun to get ready for later but really couldn't use it at all. I managed to make out some words, enough to log in to iTunes and AppleTV. About 1 hour before sunset, with brightness turned all the way up an was able to see enought to watch a show on Netflix. 30 minutes before Sunset it was actually pretty usable and you can see in the photos that the Top Gear show was generally watchable by then. 20 minutes after sunset it was GREAT! Kids started their SpiderMan movie and the picture was excellent and totally bright enough on normal settings, second photo. I'm impressed by this projector for the price though I think there are things that don't make sense. For example, you can screen mirror but it requires a special app from Epson to do that. Why not just support Chromecast like everything else, since all of the streaming apps can stream to chromecast natively? Picture quality of this project is really quite good. The built in speaker is okay, tinny.. I connected an outdoor speaker that we use for music in the yard to the project and that worked really well. The projector is easy to set up, and since all 3 feet are adjustable you can get it nice and even/level. The fan is pretty quiet.

I was looking for a new projector to replace our again 4:3 ratio projector we’ve had for YEARS. I am 100% a reviews guy and spent many researching and reading reviews of projectors. My goal was to keep the new one under the $1,000 price point. In all my reading and videos, I kept coming back to this one. It checked all the boxes. 1080p ✔️ LCD✔️ Bright (it’s 3,400 lumens) ✔️ Project 150” ✔️ Good reviews ✔️ Price ✔️ Overall I am very happy with this purchase. I ended up painting my wall with a special paint concoction I found on an AV forum and I’m projecting at 170” from 14’ with a crystal clear image. Using YouTube TV multi view, we’ve watched 4 games at once and they are all 85”. You can also download the EPSON iProject app and mirror your phone screen which we’ve also done to watch GameChanger volleyball games. If I had one complaint it would be the fan noise. You can change the color mode to theater or game and the fan does get quieter. We prefer the dynamic or bright theater settings which makes the fan louder. We’ve learned to live with it and just turn the surround sound up. I would recommend this projector to anyone looking for a great projector under $1,000.

My Epson Home Cinema 3010 gave up the ghost after 13 years of use, so I was torn between getting this Epson Home Cinema 1080 and the Epson Home Cinema 3800 (4k projector). The 3800 was $1,000 more. I’m so pleased I got the 1080. The picture is amazing and the projector itself is lightweight too! I honestly don’t think I would have been able to tell a huge difference in picture quality between the 1080 and the 3800. I HIGHLY recommend the 1080. As others have said, the fan noise is noticeable, but if you set the projector to Eco mode (which dims the brightness a little bit), then the fan noise is not audible. All this to say, for $1,000 less than the Epson 3800, the 1080 is a massive bang for your buck for what you get!! Get it if you’re on the edge of getting the 1080 or one of Epson’s higher end projectors!

Projector works great. Beautiful picture in true HD. Very bright. No problem at all with bright rooms. Be sure to run a fiber optic cable if distance is over 25feet. Pass through from receiver to HDMI input on projector worked perfect. Good buy. You won’t be disappointed. It’s not 4K. But is that really even worth it. Most people can’t tell the difference from 1080 to 4K. The throw is great. I run a 120 inch screen. And projector only needs to be 9ft out.

Great projector. Crisp and colorful picture. Immense difference between picture quality of this projector and the 200 dollar one we had previously. The speaker is medicore but we use a Bose soundbar anyway so not a concern. Mounts well to the ceiling. Easy set up. Biggest regret is not buying this sooner. I highly recommend to anyone looking for a quality projector that doesnt completely break the bank!

I purchased the Epson Home Cinema 1080 to replace an older TV in my living room, and the difference is night and day. The 3,400 lumens of brightness are no joke—even with the blinds open during the afternoon, the picture remains vibrant and sharp. ​The setup was surprisingly quick; I had it unboxed and projected onto my wall in under 10 minutes. I especially appreciate the 3LCD technology because it eliminates that annoying "rainbow effect" I’ve seen on other projectors. While the built-in speaker is decent for casual viewing, I’d recommend plugging in a soundbar for a true theater experience. Overall, it’s a fantastic value for a Full HD 1080p display that can go up to 300 inches!

Excellent projector. Very Bright and Clear. Used for a Super Bowl party. Dimensions on the wall were 21ft wide by 16ft tall.

Worked great for a meeting with 250 people. We had to dim the lights in front of the screen. We only had to have the projector about 12 feet back from the screen. We used a 120' screen (measured diagonaly) Easy to set up. Plenty of ports to hook up aux for sound and hdmi for power point and video from computer. Easy to use. Easy to set up. Runs quiet. Very pleased with the purchase. Ran for 2 hours with no issues.

Used for a recent event and visual quality is good and easy to use. Plug and play, I did not need a technician to use it.

Works perfect for my loft. Bright with good picture. Sound is as good as expected. I would recommend some external speakers of some sort.

This projector has worked great at our business. Clear photo and vivid colors. Settings were easy to adjust to the exact position and focus needed.

So glad I chose this. I could have spent a lot more money but this was more in line with my budget. After many hours of research I purchased this one and man am I surprised at how good it is. I had it at 130 inches on a wall with no screen and only about 9 feet away from wall to projector lens and it was just like being in a theater. I'm impressed and HIGHLY recommend.

Very happy with my purchase. I purchased this projector to replace my 2 year old BenQ that went bad. I use my projector for my golf sim and watching sports and movies on my impact screen. The picture is much improved over my old BenQ. I hope it last longer than the old one.

After nearly one year of usage this projector has performed well while watching movies and sports. A great value for the price.

Great projector! Love the audio out jack that I can direct connect to my Sonos amp. Great addition to my outdoor living area!
