Q: Will this projector "upscale" a 1080p source to near 4k?
A: Great question! Gamer's perspective here. I think there's a "technical" answer to your question (which perhaps an Epson associate can shed some light on), then there's the answer which I think gives you a better idea of what your experience will be like owning this projector. The protector is capable of fully resolving and displaying all the pixels in a 4k image, and like all other 4k projectors at this price point, it uses pixel shifting to achieve this. While I'm not sure if the projector's processor is technically interpolating/rendering any unique pixels when receiving a 1080p source (as opposed to simply shifting/repeating the same pixels it was fed, or perhaps not even shifting at all), I can say with confidence after comparing the image quality of dozens of games on this projector rendered anywhere from 720p up to 8k that as long as your eyes are capable of perceiving the difference in detail, you won't mistake a 1080p source for its 4k counterpart, the latter being noticeably sharper and more detailed. That's a good thing because unlike some pixel shifters I've owned in the past, the LS11000 produces a convincing 4k image when being fed a 4k source, and unlike non-pixel-shifting 1080p Epson projectors I've owned, when being fed a 1080p source the image on the LS11000 is still noticeable clearer. On a side note, before I owned this projector, I didn't appreciate how much the perceived image quality on a projector is enhanced not just by the number of pixels on the screen, but the depth of contrast the projector can display. With that logic, it's possible that a high quality 1080p projector can deliver an experience that surpasses a low quality 4k projector. With the LS11000, there's really no compromise. At any resolution you choose to feed it, this is the brightest, most vibrant, and most dynamic image I've seen on a home theater projector. I attribute this to Epson's laser light source which, especially with some light control in the room, has a similar impact to the HDR experience you might get on a high-end television, but on a much larger screen.
A: Yes it will run. I have a 50ft ruipro that runs mine with no issues. My cable is active optical. 4k/120hz

Been projecting for about 10 years now, and this is by far the best I've had yet. Tons of features, crystal clear image, responsive, great for gaming, movie nights look crisp. Dont regret this purchase at all. It's got some weight to it though, so make sure you mount it solid.

I’ve had a home theater for the last 18 years. For the last 2 years planning a new HT during a major home renovation. The biggest decision, of course, was the projector. Looked at everything under $5K and finally decided on the LS11000. They have been in and out of stock since their intro. Took a month after ordering to ship, 10 days to arrive. UPS was supposed to require a signature but was just dropped off. Package was in good condition and so was the projector. Used the Epson ceiling mount, which had some issues with the 4mm screws used to mount to the projector. I had spares from TV mounts so mounting was finished without major incident. I ran a 25’ UHD, 18GHz wire HDMI cable from the Denon amp to the projector 20 months ago. The throw distance of this projector is about 3’ farther than planned, so I needed a cable extension. Nonetheless, the combination wouldn’t work for UHD, just 1080p. Had to run a new fiber optic cable to fix that. If you are running cable, just bite the bullet and install FO cables. Just a heads up. Quick start guide is way too thin to get to a properly positioned picture on the screen. Other than that, the startup is quick, picture is bright and clear. 4K content is amazing on a 120” screen. Even with some ambient light, the picture is very good. Much better than my 1500 lumen Panasonic ever was. Only a week into ownership and I will update after I get it better dialed in.

Epson LS 11000 has an outstanding Picture Quality! This is projector number 5 for my dedicated (21 x 14 foot) Theater Room. I just had an Epson 5040 go out in November 2021. The epson dealer let me know the board was out after 7500 hour's. I bought a Sony VPL 45es (Magnolia) and used it for over 5 months (500 Hours) while I waited to have the 5040 repaired. I am happy I waited the the 11000 to come out. It has excellent contrast, clarity and color pop. The value proposition of this projector is an excellent return. I have only had it up and running for only about an 6 hour's but it is running 4k at 60/hertz. With a few adjustments to color and HDR it has a stunning picture. The flexibility of installation is huge value. I did have to to install a new 8k fiber optic cable to get it to project a picture (Old HDMI did not Work). I worked with the Magnolia at Tuttle Crossing and Rob was an excellent consultant. Initially I bought 4050 then the 5050. I ultimately spent the extra dollars for increased contrast, Laser, 8 million color and True 4 k shifting. The build quality and picture fine tuning are worth their weight in gold! I am very happy with this project and picture quality. I am using a Elite Screens Sable Frame B2 135-INCH Projector Screen Diagonal 16:9, with a 1.3 gain. Yamaha TS 700 Polk signature series (7.2) with dual 12 inch subwoofers. I included on shot with a single ambient light source (lamp) and the picture is excellent. I Will update once I view some 4k Movies. If you have not worked with Magnolia representative I would consult with them if your are looking to build or upgrade a theater room!
