Excellent quality scans, color, and accuracy. Very lightweight (can be carried around easily) and very easy to connect and setup. The software has a lot of great features for productivity, color correction, etc.

I use this for scanning small drawings and it is a wonder. I spent years doing it the wrong way by relying on my dslr. This relatively small device gives you clarity, and accurate color for a decent price. If you've been eyeing this, don't hesitate on a purchase.

1. Very lightweight and compact so does not take up a lot of space. 2. Only one cable, USB powered, no need for bulky A/C adapters. 3. It has a built-in kick stand, which allows you to place on table vertically instead of flat. 4. No warm-up time is required, thanks to Epson's ReadyScan LED Technology (from Epson's website). I hadn't used scanners others than the iPhone app for some time so this reminded me the old times when you had to wait 5 minutes for your first scan. 5. Sharp image quality (4800 dpi), adjustable in settings if you need lighter file sizes. (1) and (2) make it a great choice for scanning on the go. I carry it in a small backpack toghether with my Macbook Pro with no hassle. (3) is good for desk real estate optimization Disclaimer: I haven't used it for large whole day scanning sessions but after roughly a hundred pictures scanned it is still working perfectly.

It is a decent enough scanner. Price is right, and it works well with Windows 10. It is lightweight, and somewhat flimsy or fragile, though. The images look good. There is only one selection offering 24 bit color, no 48 bit color option, so be warned. This scanner is good, really good. Electric power to the device is provided through it's USB cord to the computer, which can be limiting if you wish to have your scanner any distance from your computer. Get a longer USB cord if you need to use your scanner far from your computer. This scanner is quiet and fast. It is really good....I like it. But it is not great. I have offered up two scans I took, one from older scanner and one from this one. My older scanner took the darker scan, and it is more accurate as to what this coin looks like. This Epson V39 is not as true to what the coin actually looks like in hand. Still good, though.

I run 64bit Windows 10 professional or whatever the version is that isn't the Home version on my PC. This scanner scans fast... at 200dpi. If you set it for anything higher it warns you that higher dpi cause larger files and encourages you to choose something smaller. Sorry, my goal with purchasing a new scanner was to get one that could do better than the 600dpi in my all in one printer scanner copier. Choosing a higher dpi (I wanted to scan old photos to share with family members attending a funeral in a few days) results in the computer crashing after every three pictures scanned in. The scans are full of artifacts and thus unusable. The time estimates given for scans... 71 minutes, 38 minutes or whatever are laughably bad. None of the half hearted scans took nearly that long before the scanner decided it was done with the scan. Downloading the software from Epson was the easiest part of using this thing. I'm returning it and running as fast as I can toward a different brand even if it means that friends and family attending the funeral will have to wait for the new scanner to arrive some time next month. I chose this one because it was in stock locally but it was a total waste of my time and efforts. I included the last attempt to get a good scan of a picture of my mother and her sister back in 1963. ALL the scans had a line above which nothing lined up with anything below it. Unacceptable.

An excellent flat bed scanner. A rarity in the consumer market today

Had to replace Epson Perfection 3490 which is an excellent flat bed scanner--even capable of slide copying. This V29 is apparently LED--no warm up required. Totally USB powered. Preview image is not near as clear as the 3490 preview was. Software is quite similar; but it tends to crash. I seem to have the least problems if I start from a fresh restart before I try to use the scanner. I don't expect to use the V39 much for photo copying at high resolution; but it's been OK for general document copy work. Pretty decent for the price. The tilt up leg is handy--cuts down on the desk top footprint.

This Scanner was a replacement for an older Epson V37 Scanner. I wanted a Scanner that was similar to the V37 and easy to use. Besides a difference in the Menu Buttons as to their function, the V39 is identical. Having used Epson products since 2004 Epson has kept the excellent quality that I expect. I expect to have many years of use with this Scanner.

Epson advertises that the ArcSoft Scan-n-Stitch program is included. I have attached a copy Epson's V39 Specs sheet (taken from Epson's website) which explicitly lists Scan-n-Stitch in the "Software Included" section on page 2. Best Buys' product description for the V39 also states ArcSoft Scan-n-Stitch is included. This was a deciding factor in my choice of this particular scanner. But when I went to Epson's website to download the software, it was not there. Epson customer Service was no help. They were unsympathetic and adamant that I was not entitled to it regardless of what their literature says. They told me to take it up with Best Buy. I know Best Buy stands by their products and would let me return it but I feel conned by Epson. For the device itself, I think it is an excellent value, decent quality and not difficult to use.

We bought this to scan a bunch of old photos, but got busy and left it in the box for a year. Finally opened it today and installed the software. First photo I tried to scan and the motor in the scanner made a bunch of noise. I opened the lid and the scanner was crooked and won't move. See photo.

I wound up purchasing this scanner in an emergency up in Nashua, NH. I had a death in the family and I needed to scan a bunch of old hard copy pictures (into my laptop) I located for the funeral. I have a high end scanner in the office (Texas), but that was not an option. "This was the low cost and quick solution I needed." I must have scanned 200 pictures in a small amount of time. The Epson V39 scanner is efficient (fast), scans are excellent quality, and absolutely no issues (ran like a champ). Setup was quick and easy (have always liked Epson scanning software). I was able to get 300 dpi scans with minimum compression quickly with not overly-large files. There is no power supply so the USB chord revs up the scanner (plug and play). I had intended to leave the scanner with one of my relatives, but I liked it so much I am now using it at home. It is small enough to tuck-away on a work desk. I was also able to carry it on the plane trip back to Texas easily (the size of a large laptop, it fit in my backpack easily). I will note that there is no on and off button - the USB signal turns it on. If you leave your computer running 24/7 this may be an issue (will need to unplug it). I have my computer set to sleep after a certain amount of time, and the Epson turns itself off once the computer is at rest. Once you log in again it turns back on.

Great little photo scanner for the price. I have scanned 400 old photos in one week without any problems. I found it very easy to download software and set up, but I do have windows 10. I find 1200 dpi setting creates a great image and only use 2400 for very small prints, which take no more time given their size. It allows you to make a bunch of tone and color adjustments on your own, but I find they have a one-click Color Restoration option which does a fantastic job for you. Check out the magic it does with those old yellowed prints.

This is the cheapest decent scanner I could find. If you are using it for artwork like I was, or anything not 100% flat, you will need to put weight on the top. If the paper is buckled at all it will not scan well without something weighing it down (I use a very heavy art book on top). It needs whatever you are scanning to be right up against the glass to get a clear image. But, if you do weigh it down it works really well! I'm impressed with the quality. Using 600 dpi I can make smaller art but have it scan in at a quality good enough to print at a larger size than I initially made it. It's also super lightweight and easy to move around. Nice for someone like me that doesn't have a dedicated room or space to art.

I bought this scanner to scan old family photos. I set the full auto mode to 1200 dpi and selected color correction because I wanted to enlarge some of the photos; otherwise the 300 dpi is fine for a one-to-one scan. The best part about the auto mode is that it will automatically select and crop a photo from the 4 (multiple) photos I put on the scanner. It scans each photo, color corrects it and saves it in a file. It makes scanning photos easy!! The scanner is portable and connected easily to my MacBook Pro. I visited my Mom and Dad who are in their 80s and scanned some of their photos. My Mom found it easy to use so I left it with them (I set it up for their PC). Both the Mac and the PC setups were simple. One item to note: if you don't have a CD player, you'll need to download the software from the website which was easy. The other item to note is that you MUST have the software installed before you plug the scanner into your computer. Fantastic scanner. Now I'll have to buy another one for myself!

For the price of this I wasn't expecting much. I had a lot of old family photos I needed to scan in. I'm used to the big old scanners that had power ports that plug into the wall. Seeing this only used a USB made me think it might scan very slow. I was totally wrong about my assumptions. This scanner is lightweight, just one wire, scans very fast, and with great resolution. Easy to install and use. One of the best electronic purchases I've ever made.
