I work in the legal profession, which involves scanning a lot of documents. I also scan a lot of personal items (receipts, medical records, etc.). What matters most to me is: 1) speed, 2) accuracy, and 3) quickly navigating to the place where I save my scanned documents. This Epson scanner checks all those boxes and more. While this scanner has Wi-Fi, I typically keep it on my desk next to my computer and it's plugged in via USB. But with Wi-Fi, you have the ability to keep it further away from your computer (out of USB range) or if you are interested in simply scanning documents to a shared folder (i.e. Dropbox, etc.) You can do that and bypass the computer entirely. For me, I need to use my computer to pick where I want to save documents so I need to interface with my computer, but I can definitely see the direct to shared folder access (thru your phone) as a boon to some. IN THE BOX Is the scanner itself (folded up into a compact device and secured with tape), USB 3.0 cable, and power cord. SETUP Really simple. I removed the tape holding the scanner together and plugged in the power cord and USB cable to my desktop. Note that I am using a Windows computer. Windows then did it’s thing of preparing the device for use. That was successful. From there, I went to Google and searched the model number of the scanner for the software. (I was not prompted to download anything after plugging the scanner into my computer). I went to the Epson website and made my way to the support site. From there I downloaded the “Driver and Utilities Combo Package Installer.” I let that download and install. From opening the box until installing the software was about 10 minutes. DESIGN AND BUTTONS First a few things on the design. I found this scanner to be pretty compact out of the box and pretty attractive (relatively speaking). It has a number of buttons on the front that, honestly, I couldn’t tell what they were at first (outside of the obvious blue power button and Wi-Fi button). But the buttons are Power, WPS, Wi-Fi on and off, Slow Mode, Scan, Stop and NFC. Since I don’t use Wi-Fi, I pretty much only hit power and the scan button. I haven’t had the need to stop a scan and I don’t know the purpose of the Slow Mode (although I’m sure there’s a reason/benefit for it). But the compact-ness goes out the door when you open up the scanner to reveal the feed trays. It ends up taking up quite a bit of desk space. This is typical, and should be expected, but it was a bit jarring to see the scanner get so big with the trays extended. But I simply slide the trays in when not using. Having to pull the trays out is no big deal. USE AND QUALITY So the Epson scanning software is pretty solid. I found it to be pretty intuitive. I mentioned earlier, what I look for in a scanner is the ease in which you go from hitting the scan button to saving the document to the right folder. Once you hit the scan button, a screen pops up (meaning you don’t have to manually open the scanning software). From there, you type in the name of the file, click a button to change the folder, then hit save. It’s really about as easy as it gets. For comparison’s sake, my old Brother scanner required me to open the software, click on several buttons, then scan, then a few more buttons to save it. Not to mention there was no option to save to a shared folder. It wasn’t the worst thing to have to do, but I appreciate the Epson experience because it saved me time, and when you’re scanning high volumes of documents, every little bit matters. In terms of scanning performance, this thing flies. I’m not going to recite the pages it scans per minute (I didn’t time it), but I will just say that it flies. I put a 50 page, double-sided document (black and white text) and it scanned all 100 pages in no time. If I had to guess, it was 30-45 seconds. The scans weren’t crooked and the resolution looked great. Another thing to mention for those who aren’t generally familiar with scanners outside of scanning one sheet at a time on glass, this Epson scanner (like a lot of dedicated desktop scanners) scan double-sided with one pass. No more do you have to flip the lid open and turn the page over, or hope that your printer/copier doesn’t jam when flipping the paper over to scan both sides of the page. I do want to mention OCR and the scanning of business cards. It comes with software that allows you to archive business cards by simply scanning them. You can change the settings as to what it captures. It will then send the information directly to Google Contacts, Outlook contacts, etc. and create a contact. It’s pretty convenient. It also processes and OCR’s (optical character recognition) text when scanning. It will scan the document and then perform OCR on the document right then and there (vs using Adobe PDF to run OCR after the fact). I don’t generally run OCR on my PDFs, primarily because I haven’t incorporated it into my workflow, but it’s nice that it does it automatically. I will say however, the OCR recognition is a little off. Sometimes it didn’t get the words right. This wasn’t an issue for me because I don’t use it, but I notice for some documents with different sized characters and different fonts on the same page, it had some difficulties. I’ve heard if you increase the default resolution of the scans, however, it will help. I’ve scanned photos (on white paper, not actual photo prints) and colored documents and found the quality to be acceptable. 9 times out of 10, I had zero qualms with the quality of the color photos. Every now and then though, the edges would be a little blurry. But even in those small instances, the document was perfectly legible so it didn’t bother me. But I mention this in case you will be scanning a lot of photos, etc. CONCLUSION If you scan frequently or scan in bulk, a dedicated desktop scanner with intuitive software is a big productivity booster. And this Epson fits the bill. It’s a bit pricey, but it’s very much worth it. I have yet to experience any snags, any jams, etc. It’s handled everything I’ve thrown at it (papers with holes, torn edges from staples, legal size documents, etc). It’s not the most exciting piece of tech out there, but honestly, I can’t live without it anymore.

This scanner is great. It is small, lightning fast, excellent quality, and has wireless capabilities. The most important thing about this machine is its excellent quality of scan. It is exactly what I would expect from an epson product. It scans super fast and will scan both sides of the page in a single pass. Its speed certainly rivals commercial grade machines, and I would prefer this piece of equipment in my home or office over a big, bulky commercial machine. I was able to easily set up all the software, both on my desktop computer and my mobile device. I find the mobile app very easily, and it is very straightforward. I love using the mobile app with this device because of the simple interface, and the convenience of using my phone over a computer. The machine itself sits on about 12x7 inches of real estate on my desk, less than a piece of paper. When not in use, I keep it folded up to that size. To use I unfold the top loading tray and generally the output tray. This tray is nice to have but not necessary. If the output tray is not unfolded, the scanned pages will just end up on my desk. If it was close to the edge, it would be valuable so the paper doesn’t scatter all over the floor. When it unfolds, it expands in both height, and length above the desk surfaces, but I don’t find it to be very intrusive. Set up was pretty easy. I initially set it up using the USB connection and the PC software. After using it a little bit this way, I decided to connect it to my WiFi network. Once I connected it to my wifi network is when I really felt the versatility of the machine. I was able to install the software on an additional machine, and my phone, and could start scanning things to most any location that I could think of. The software allows scanning straight to a local drive, Google Drive, Evernote, Sharepoint, SugarSync, Email, FPT even another printer. I can also use mobile software to make the files accessible directly from my phone or iPad. I’ve seen similar models that don’t have WiFi capabilities, and I think it is a huge mistake (at least for me) to not have a machine with these wifi capabilities. The ADF tray is large enough for most documents that I would ever deal with, and will adjust to allow much smaller single page items such as photos, receipts, and business cards. This scanner gets a big thumbs up from me, and a very large recommendation. I’m not sure what else I would even include in a scanner. The only thing I could think of would be to make it accessible from the internet, but I’m not sure why that would be necessary, because I would have to load the document locally anyway! This is a review for the Epson DS-530 II Color Document Scanner that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.

PROs: - Another blazing-fast and virtually error-free small-footprint document scanner from Epson--even with multi-sized receipts and letters mixed into the stack, the sheet feeder never missed a scan or 2-sided document on the first pass; full 8.5' x 11" sheets took <1 second! - Reasonably low-drag setup; wireless capability lets you place the scanner anywhere in your house--all critical components for operation downloaded and installed in under 5 minutes before scanning was ready for action (no joke!) - Wireless scanning to PC or direct to OneDrive/Google/Dropbox worked flawlessly; Epson Scan utility easily allowed customization of filenames prior to upload/finalization, DPI setting adjustments for greater/lesser detail in scans, error-correction settings for staples, dirt, paper skew, etc. - 2-sided scanning capability worked perfectly for large document collections or images with labels/stickers on the back, and the Epson software preview window lets you quickly delete unneeded/empty scans before saving the files to disc - Exceedingly small desktop footprint clocks out around the size of an artisan bread loaf (more on that later); adjustable power-off settings let you hide the scanner away in a corner until you absolutely need it - Slow-mode button right on the scanner allows you to ease up on the throttle for document feed speed and prevent paper jams or errors--it's a great way to intervene when you have thin or wrinkled papers to scan without having to resort to adjusting a software setting on the PC - Included OCR integration with popular MS Office programs or Evernote quickly created editable documents from scanned papers...OCR accuracy obviously depended on the source material (i.e. don't expect something to recognize handwriting very well), but typed matter was accurate into MS Word about 98% of the time requiring very little rework to make perfect - Post-scan interface screen provides simple/graphical button options for common actions available after scanning: Save, attach to Email, Send to GoogleDrive, Send to Dropbox, Send to Evernote, Print, Save to Word, Save to Excel, Save to PowerPoint, Save to OneDrive, and a Trial for "Manage Invoices/Receipts" - Includes Presto! BizCard 6 business card scanner/organizer application--this wasn't anything we specifically needed, but it makes sense given the capabilities/demographic this scanner seems to target and for those of you needing/wanting this capability, it's nice to have something that does such a good job of cleanly and neatly organizing hundreds of business contacts CONs - It sits unassumingly in a corner--until you need it...then it requires more than 2 feet of space (including at least 6 inches from the wall itself) to fully accommodate the document feeder and output trays--just be aware of the additional clearance you'll need around the unit if you have a smallish/cluttered desk like we do - 200-300 DPI tends to be the sweet spot for document accuracy vs scanning speed, but just like Epson's other photo scanners we've auditioned, I'm not sure what value the 1200 DPI setting has in the scanning menu for this unit. This scanner tops out at 600 dpi optically (according to Epson), so having a 1200 DPI setting seems to be doing nothing more for the user than making the resultant scans absurdly large with no gain in captured detail from the underlying document/image. This is a minor quibble as most people will probably set-it-and-forget-it somewhere in the low 200-300s anyway, but just be aware that someone else trying to be "helpful" in the software interface at some point could inadvertently set this scanner to an input format that is well beyond the hardware's capabilities! - I get it...Epson is marketing similar form-factor scanners with slightly different capabilities for unique user segments...this scanner is clearly aimed at the home-office document consumer rather than a small-business owner, photo editor, or someone who has more interest in manipulating the data within the scans rather than just capturing the scans themselves. But the Epson ScanSmart dialog (the simple 3-button interface that starts a single or double-sided scan either remotely or via USB connection), has a GIANT orange "TRIAL" banner across the "Manage invoices and receipts" button...this is separate from the "Trial" that shows up on the "Select Action" page after a scan is complete. This "Manage" feature allows the user to extract data from invoices and receipts to upload into TurboTax, Quicken, and other financial management software, but it's a paid add-on here (it's also available gratis with other Epson scanners that just happen to look strikingly similar to this one!) and frankly it's just kind of irritating that an option requiring an additional purchase takes up 1/3 of the screen space on an otherwise streamlined dialog page...it would have been FAR more preferable to allow the user to customize or install additional options onto this main interface page than constantly nag the user with a feature that may or may not be of any interest in the first place Bottom line: Overall, this is a pretty darned capable document scanner that should do well to service most "average" to even "above-average" scanning needs. Image auto-correct options include capabilities to remove punch holes, background or background text, stitch images and documents together, adjust document skew, and make color and filter adjustments to tweak your scans or enhance scanned text to dial things in pretty well close to whatever you're after. Although this particular scanner is marketed more for the home-office user, I tried using the scanner for 600 DPI photo scanning and the results were actually exceedingly good! Colors were just a hair darker and more saturated than the original photos, but in most cases, the digital results looked a bit better to my eyes than the original faded photos from my youth. No, I wouldn't try using this particular unit for large-scale photo archiving and restoration; but it's nice to know that if the need arises, you've got a capable enough unit for photo or color scanning that I doubt most people would feel they were making any compromises at all in scanning quality, especially given the lightning-fast speed at which the documents shot through the document feeder and out the other end! My only gripes are relatively minor, and have more to do with the way the software is packaged to constantly remind you that "this scanner could do even more if you only paid us a bit more money than you already spent!" But those are truly minor quibbles that in no way detract from the speed, quality, and relative quiet that this scanner provides for a pretty high-volume daily throughput of 1- and 2-sided scans. The only gotcha I found during installation was the fact that Epson posted two different software packages on their webpage for this unit, both with the same software release date, and neither with release notes to tell you what you were getting into. One is a 9.1MB package for "Drivers and Utilities Combo Package Installer"; the other is a 71.1MB package for "Scanner Driver and Epson Scan 2 Utility v6.6.24.1." Well, surely the larger installer with the more specifically named scanner utility MUST be the proper installation package, right? No...do yourself a favor and go with the combo package installer...the primary utilities, interfaces, guides, and additional apps are downloaded during installation rather than up front from the Epson website--best I can tell, the scanner driver and Epson Scan 2 utility will only get you a TWAIN-compliant driver and the Epson control panel interface (which I suppose is fine if you're looking for minimal bloatware in your installation). Honestly, with hardware performance this good, the only things that really do feel a bit thin are the included apps and utilities. This scanner is MORE than capable at holding its own for image capture, not just documents/text; but aside from the business card manager, there are no included utilities to help you wring a lot of extra value out of your purchase. Now, I wouldn't expect a full-blown Photoshop or desktop publishing alternative to be bundled in with a scanner of this size; but at this price point, even a basic image organizer/printing interface would have at least been appreciated. Fortunately, we have a number of image editing and printing applications at home, but I don't know as that's necessarily the case for a typical home-office user who might be jealously eyeing this scanner to do just a tad more than what is printed on the box. Still, if you have the means and the interest, this scanner is definitely recommended for the performance and capabilities it DOES deliver.

For those in need, this is a great little scanner. Some people question the need for a stand-alone scanner when multifunction printers and even phone apps can accomplish the same thing. Having used scanners on both of these devices, I can say that I'm far more comfortable using the stand alone version as it provides consistent results and with much quicker/easier user interface. While I don't do a whole lot of scanning, I do find myself in need of a dedicated scanner for end-of-year tasks like scanning receipts, invoices and other documents. I have an expensive HP multifunction printer which scans documents. While it does it well, getting the scan out of the printer and sent to my email or uploaded to a cloud storage account is a huge pain. So much so that I've given up on using the scanner function on that printer. Phone apps are great for when you need to quickly take a picture of a document however, quality has always been iffy for me. Plus, why have a phone scanning app when you can just take a pic of the document? But, having used this scanner, I really like it. It's fast. a test scan of a document took a little over a second and quality from the scan was great. You can obviously change the scanning settings for higher quality or what not but, with the out-of-box settings, the scans look great quality for me. The scanner is fairly small as well. it's about a foot wide and about 7-8 inches deep. It's not large by any means and doesn't take up too much space on your desktop/shelf. When the scanner is opened up it takes up a bit of space but mainly in height so, again, nothing where you need to relocate the scanner whenever you need to use. Also it's significantly smaller than your typical flat bed scanners of old. It's wireless which I really like. It connects wirelessly or through USB. I opted for the wireless connection as it's just more convenient for me. Using the included software, it's super easy to scan items and, what I really like the most, is the ability to send the scan to any number of formats/outputs. My HP could do this however the setup of all that was just a mess and I never got it to work correctly. That said, one issue I have is that there is an option to manage receipts/invoices when scanning. it's an added service which doesn't really make sense to me. I figured something like this should be included however, it's nothing to me since I manage that stuff myself through my PC backups. Still though, would've been nice to have that part of the software included.

Very eazy to install , has good scanning quality and speed, cons; it needs continuous software updates .

REVIEW: EPSON - WORKFORCE ES-500W II WIRELESS DUPLEX DESKTOP DOCUMENT SCANNER MODEL:B11B263201 Best Buy Tech Insider Network FASTEST SCANNER I HAVE EVER USED – HIGH QUALITY OPTICS I can’t express, just how fast this is. For example, when a printer says it is 35ppm you know that is usually total fiction and you can never achieve that speed in everyday use. Thus, I was totally blown away by how fast the EPSON WORKFORCE ES-500W II Scanner operates. (Yes, I know this is a scanner not a printer, but my point is that it is rare to get what is advertised) I have no problem believing the ES-500W II rated speed. When I ran the first test (during setup) the test page flew through the machine so quickly that I thought something was wrong. Then, up pops a perfect image on my screen, both sides as well! Next I played with settings, and tried 300DPI, 600DPI, 1200DPI (DPI = dots per inch) I did not notice any significant decrease in speed. The pages were clear and sharp, when I printed what I scanned, and compared the original to the copy, nobody could tell the difference, even the colors were spot on. My older flatbed scanners and MFP (Multi-Function Printers) never achieved anything close to this speed or quality – EVER. I even have a 2020 higher end office laser MFP at work (the market leader of office laser printers), and the EPSON - WORKFORCE ES-500W II leaves it in the dust. PRO’s - Compact Size when not in use (unfolds like a transformer) - FAST FAST FAST - Good quality 600 DPI Optical Scans - Easy to install and get working - PDF/A Support (the newer PDF ISO standard focused on archiving) - Intelligent Document Naming (based on content of scanned document) Example Invoice, Contract, Order SETUP The setup was easy (next, next, next), but it does take a while, maybe a good 10-15 minutes by the time everything is downloaded, installed, updated, etc. In my case I went with 100% WiFi, but I was pleasantly surprised to see a USB 3 cable included (the fact it was not USB 2 tells me it is built for speed). There was a slight delay while it tried to locate my WIFI, but after about 30 seconds it found it and even pulled the password automatically from Windows (I need to check my security settings on Windows if it was that easy). The EPSON - WORKFORCE ES-500W II only supports the 2.4Ghz network. SIDE NOTE ON MULTI COMPUTER (WORKGROUPS) By default, the EPSON - WORKFORCE ES-500W II only wants to work with one computer for all of its functions. This is called the “PAIRED” computer. The “PAIRED” computer has to be turned on and is the only computer that can automatically receive and process a “PUSHED” scanned document (such as automatically uploading to MS OneDrive). However, any computer on your network that has the EPSON - WORKFORCE ES-500W II software installed can “PULL” a scan and that user can then do whatever they want with the document. PUSH means I walk up to the scanner, drop in a document press START on the scanner which the PAIRED computer then automatically processes. PULL means I put the document in the scanner, walk back to any computer on the network and press SCAN on the computer. Again, you can only PUSH if your PAIRED computer is turned on, but you can PULL from any computer. SCANNING RESULTS & TESTING I was initially concerned that optically the scanner is only 600x600 DPI. However, after testing, even 200 DPI is still very good in quality. For Text Documents I would rate this 10/10. For Speed, I would rate this 10/10. For Color Documents (like brochures), I would rate this 9.5/10 and for Color Photos I would rate this 8.5/10. It does a pretty good job at photos, but lacks some depth and color correction. There is not a “photo” mode in the scanner settings. In fact, the manual says not to use this for photos. But for a quick school report or photo ID copy, it is perfectly fine. (see scan samples) There are advanced features to let you change all sorts of settings. I used the option to remove backgrounds and it worked perfectly (for example removes a colored paper background). I used the watermark option to mark scanned documents with a “Confidential Copy” watermark. You also have all the expected settings for contract, brightness, etc. Once you scan the document and it is on your computer the EPSON - WORKFORCE ES-500W II software makes it really easy for you to integrate the scanned results with a huge variety of apps and data targets (like MS OneDrive, Dropbox, etc). The description says you can do this all “wirelessly” which left me with the impression you could do this without a computer (or device like a phone) in the middle, but if that is the case, then I could not find how to make it work without first bouncing the Scanned File to the PAIRED computer or phone. This is a minor issue, but important if you are looking for an independent device that does not need a computer to operate. I think Epson makes other models that have this feature if it is important to you. One cool feature is that when you scan a text document it somehow makes a guess as to what type of document it just scanned (for example and Invoice) and names the file “INVOICE-001.PDF”. SUMMARY / CONCLUSION / RECOMMENDATION The EPSON - WORKFORCE ES-500W II is a welcome addition to my home office and would work well in a workgroup environment. We have 5 computers at home and all of then can now scan when/as needed wirelessly. The speed of the EPSON - WORKFORCE ES-500W II is amazing, and the quality output of the scans is hard beat. At this high rate of speed, I don’t know how the quality it so high. I am happy to replace my old slow fuzzy scanners with the EPSON - WORKFORCE ES-500W II.

This scanner delivers everything you would want a scanner to deliver. It is easy to set up, easy to use, and YOU DON'T MISS A SINGLE SCAN. I loaded up 30 pages and it was able to scan all of them with no issues. My previous scanner would eat up the pages or double up on some pages but this Epson Workforce Scanner has no issues. The scanner is bigger than most but the advantage is that it is wireless! You can place it anywhere if you don't have the space on your desk. You can scan to your phone, laptop, and desktop as long as it is connected to the same network and has the Epson apps or software. My scan are all clear and I can easily customize through the setting how I want my scans to look. When not in use, you can easily took it away in the corner or against the wall to save space. If you're like me and scan a lot of documents for work throughout the day, this scanner will save you a tremendous amount of time and save you from stress headaches.

I have set up and used so many scanners in my lifetime, but none this easy. and fast. This scanner was unpacked, installed, and scanning in less than 10 minutes. The longest thing that it took me to do was download the software package to my laptop. The instructions are very detailed, which made them super easy to follow. The application for my iPhone 12 Mini, was installed and connected to the scanner via wifi in less than a minute, same thing goes for my iPad 11 Pro, an Android phone, and an Apple MacBook Air. I did everything through wifi, instead of using the provided USB cord. During setup, there is a step that tells you to load a document into the scanner's auto-feed and push the scan button. I tried twice and got an error both times, but then a notification told me to open the application that was installed and do a test scan from the application. I did, and it scanned without a hiccup. Then, I proceeded to scan another document utilizing the double-sided/duplex feature of this WorkForce scanner. It was as easy as clicking the button that read, "Double-sided" versus "Single-sided". The application on my iPhone and iPad 11 Pro, was just as easy, if not easier to use to scan the same document. Pros: First and foremost, the setup and installation were simple. Even if I wasn't technically inclined, both processes could be followed by virtually anyone. Setting up the wireless was part of the original setup and installation process, and involved holding down a button until the blue wireless indicator light blinked. I wasn't required to enter any information about my wireless network, which was fantastic. There are guides on the back where you put the documents to be scanned on the auto-feeder. The auto-feeder holds 50 pages. Scanning is at 35 pages per minute, and it's quick. There is also a pullout piece in the front to catch the documents once scanned. The size of documents that this Epson Workforce ES-500W II scanner will scan is great, from pages as wide as A4 down to business cards. The duplex feature does not require you to turn the page over. It scans it just as fast as a single-sided page. The document scanner immediately worked with my Adobe software and my Microsoft Office 365, including my OneDrive. It actually let me log in to my Microsoft account to use my OneDrive to store my scanned documents, and it gave me the option to also save a copy on my local computer. The footprint is quite small, so it does not take up a lot of desktop space. This is great since I work from home, and my office space is limited. I used this with a Window's based computer/laptop, iOS on iPhone and iPad, Android phone and tablet, and a MacBook Air. You can scan wirelessly from many devices. It comes with all the needed software and utilities, available for download on the Epson website. The links are included with the instructions. This scanner is indeed a WorkForce. Cons: Although I am sure that one day I will find a feature that I wished this scanner had, at the moment, and after using it for several days, I cannot find anything wrong with it. It's fast, it's easy, and it does exactly what I want it to do. I highly recommend this scanner to anyone that scan's a lot, has a home-based business, works from home, or even if you work in an office away from home. It's a desktop scanner, but it's not heavy and you could carry it to the office if needed. It's also great for students, and those that like to scan all their receipts. This comes with software that will allow you to scan receipts, and the data is extracted from the form and put into your accounting software. Quicken and QuickBooks are both compatible. This is a review of the Epson DS-500W II Wireless Duplex Document Scanner that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.

This is the new “best of the best” in scanners. Without a doubt, Epson products do not just exceed my vision expectations, but they exceed all of my expectations. I purchased my first Epson product in 1986, a dot matrix printer. It never died, it just retired. It printed my lengthy doctoral dissertation a thousand times, and it never had a problem. I have continued to use all Epson products throughout my career. I have made the purchasing decision for my former employers for and have used many large format plotters for printing architectural drawings. I have had the privilege to use an all-in-one printer for the past couple of decades in my home office. I say privilege because, unlike some other printers, Epson plotters and printers never have a problem. They keep on kicking until you retire them by usually replacing them with an upgraded model. Mine usually go on to a non-profit where their use continues. The new Epson ES-500W II Scanner seems to be the top of the line again. In the Workforce Series, like their terrific printers in this category, this wireless Color document scanner is fast (35 pages per minute), has a large document feeder (holds up to 50 pages), and produces an exceptional high-quality image. Built into the system is an auto image adjust, image enhancer, skew correction tool, and dirt detection. It will scan to a multitude of programs through the cloud - Dropbox, Google Drive, and to any of your mobile devices. A terrific way to get organized, this scanner does it all. With a single pass, it will scan the front and back of your document and organize your documents in such a way that the .pdf is searchable. The product itself is very well designed and takes up a small footprint compared to other scanners that can only do portions of the work that this one can do. The wireless feature makes it very attractive for home office use because its footprint only takes up 6.6” x 11.6” x 6.9”, and if space is limited, then it does not have to remain tether to your computer by a cable. The unit only weighs 8.1 lbs. The software is easily accessible on the website under support for this product and it downloaded and installed seamlessly. It did have a firmware update before I made the wireless connection. The unit closes up when not in use to protect it from dust/dirt and the width of the scan will go up to the letter/legal size of 8.5 inches. Adjust the sliding guides easily for small photographs, prints, receipts, or just about anything you wish to scan that is within the width of 8.5”. There is even a pull-out paper catch that retracts just as easily as it pulls out. The only real maintenance for this product only happens after approximately 200,000 scans. At this point it is recommended by the manufacturer to replace the rollers. This is my very favorite piece of office equipment and I would give it 6 stars if I could. I highly recommend it. If you have many documents to scan or just want to scan your generational family photographs, this scanner is the only one to buy that will make that happen with ease and give you a truly professional quality end product.

This Epson ES-500WII wireless deluxe scanner is so light weight and easy to use. Set up/download took less then 10 mins to do. This scanner is so convenient since it is wireless. I downloaded the Epson app on my phone and can access it from that. The top of the scanner flips up and that is where the documents go, the documents need to be face down when scanning . It has size adjusters on it, one on each side to do different side documents including cards. The bottom has the return tray that the documents go once scanned, it flips out and holds the nicely. This scanner has 7 buttons on the right side. Power, Wi-Fi connect button, Wi-Fi button, double feed detection skip button, slow mode button, stop button and start button. The double feed detection is so nice to have so you are not accidentally scanning the same document twice. To clear a jam on this scanner is super easy to do. You push the light gray button on the top left side of the body and it opens up the scanner. You remove the jam and it will start where it left off. This scanner is also nice because it a duplex feature and automatically scans both sides of a document with out you telling it to. It does not put the blank pages in the scan document. It omits those out on its own. When in the folder it scans to it counts how many pages were scanned which is a nice feature so you know none were missed. I absolutely love how compact this scanner is. It folds up nicely to save space. Since I work from home for an agency, there are some things that I have to scan and get out to clients. It's sometimes a hassle to do that on my all-in-one printer, so having a separate document scanner helps. The WorkForce ES-500W II Wireless Duplex Desktop Document Scanner is convenient, quick, and was so easy to set up. I had it scanning in less than 5 minutes. The WiFi setup still isn't completed because there is an issue with communication between my computer & the Document Scanner since my computer is hardwired. But that's a network issue, not a WorkForce ES-500W II Wireless Duplex Desktop Document Scanner issue. I love that it's not bulky so it does not take up much space at all. The document feeder closes down so that you can keep dust or debris out of the feeder and keep your scanner running nice. I tried it out scanning some household papers that I wanted to get out of my file box and did so quickly without having to scan both sides of each separately. I really enjoy how well this scanner scans the images and able to scan both sides at the same time. It is compact, light and easy to carry to travel with you. The hardware itself is made well, and has papers extensions to allow for easy placement and exits of the original paper to be scanned. The computer software is simple, easy to use and does a Firmware update right on the spot. The only complaint I have is the Android App that is suppose to work with this scanner. The ESPON Android app is HORRIBLE !! No matter what I did it would not detect the scanner. It is suppose to connect via AP connection which would be great to use when out in the field. However the Android app never worked no matter what I tried. If you use your computer, its great however if you wish to use your android good luck ....

I received the Epson Workforce ES-500 Wireless Scanner last week. Depending on what you need a scanner for, this could be overpriced for your needs. To me this scanner is priced for a home office, or at an office price point that has many files to scan and will use it daily. I have seen these types of scanners in Doctor’s offices and Hospitals. This would be a great fit for a tax preparer, a teacher, or a realtor. I plan to use it in my home office where I am transferring multiple client files to digital on a weekly basis. It will hold up to 50 pages letter or legal, if you use longer paper it is best to feed them one at a time, so they do not jam. It says you can scan a length as long as 240 inches. It will also scan a license, insurance card, or business card. I have not timed it, but it states that it can scan up to 35 pages per minute, its fast, but it depends on what dpi you set it at. The higher the dpi the longer it will take. I use the 600 dpi and it is fast as I need it to be. It can scan on both sides and will put them in order, you will have to sort them after. It can also scan receipts and extract the information to put it into a couple of the most popular budget programs. It will also send it straight to Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, or Evernote. You can also send it as readable text to Word or Excel. It can be connected wirelessly or via a 3.0 USB cable. Wifi is a great feature if you need to send something to your phone for a quick email. I find that when I use the Wifi that it is not as fast as when it is attached via a usb cable. Using the machine through the computer interface is simple. You pick from Single-Sided, Double-Sided, or Manage (for Receipts). Once you decide the scanner starts scanning and will scan till its complete. Once it is complete you pick if you want to save it, send in an email, save it to cloud storage, or print it. It can also detect that while scanning double sided, if there is a blank page, it will skip it. One issue I do have is, and maybe it is just me needing to get used to it, but I had to print out part of the manual so I can remember what all of the buttons and lights are for. On the machine there are only symbols to represent what everything does.

This scanner is great! It produces high-quality scans of different types - I've used it for regular documents, greeting cards, photographs, and even to back up IDs & credit cards. There's a document feeder and a tray to catch the scanned items, both of them fold/slide away when not in use. The software is easy to use and has menus to dig further into the settings to do advanced customization. It can be used wired (with supplied USB-A cable) or wirelessly. I set up the wireless scanning with my phone & my MacBook - both were easy and straightforward. Scanning wirelessly is super-convenient, as it allowed me to keep the scanner on the other side of the room from my computer where I have more space for it. The scanning/transferring speed didn't seem any slower on my network than when it was plugged in directly. All in all, it's a great scanner - very fast, high quality, small footprint. I going to real quick with this one. If you are tired of having loads of files stuffed in bulky, unsightly file cabinet and would love to have extra space to place fresh clutter, this scanner is your way out of the abyss of endlessly thumbing and searching through files you may not have had time to even file. The scanner comes equipped with everything you'll need to get started. basically syncing all of your important documents and old photos to you Drop box, One drive or cloud of your liking. using your computer, tablet or smartphone. All you need to do is unbox it, plug it into the wall and download the driver from the website and you're off and running. That's really it. Access your files from anywhere. It's Wi-Fi friendly and wireless, just like the description above. It scans one or duel sided paperwork and business cards alike. It's super fast and relatively quiet. I could go on and on, but seriously, if you're looking to get a scanner and you are reading this right now, Get it. Highly recommended.

I have worked with documents for years. The ability for quick setup and use is extremely important. Most of my documents pertain to real estate abstracts. This scanner makes it easy to use and easy to find files needed for a particular work order/abstract. Saving and finding is a breeze. Quick scan up to 50 pages without jams or other issues makes my productivity skyrocket. No bulk, very compact space saving and easy to store if needed. Folds up to use very little space when not in use. The new Epson Workforce scanner is everything I wanted and more built into a small, discreet at home scanner. At first glance, I thought it was going to be larger than I imagined considering all the bells and whistles it has built in however I was pleasantly surprised that it was much smaller measuring at less than 12” wide, less than 7” deep when collapsed, less than 8” tall when the top is collapsed and less than 12” tall when the automatic feeder is up. Set up was simple and self-explanatory as I only had to reference the manual to see what webpage I needed to go to download the software. The Epson software walks you through the setup in a few simple steps by linking the scanner and your Wi-Fi. You can also download the smart phone application and scan files/images directly to your phone wirelessly. After setup, I performed my initial single page scan as a test and was shocked at how fast the page fed through the scanner, claiming up to 35ppm/70ipm, and the image popped up on my laptop wirelessly. The image I scanned was crystal clear, much better than the all-in-one printer I was using previously, and I did not realize until I scanned it that it scanned both sides without me even choosing the option to do so. There is also an option to connect the scanner with the supplied USB cable if you prefer that option. After the initial scan, I then entered a stack of papers and it automatically fed them through the scanner with ease and no hang ups or errors; according to the manufacturer you can load up to 50 pages in the auto-feeder. The software included with the scanner works great as I have used it previously with an older Epson all-in-one and has plenty of options to customize whatever project you are working on. It also has an option for software that will read data on your receipts and export them to third party software such as Quicken, QuickBooks and Turbo Tax to keep organized throughout the year for tax season. Overall, I am pleased with the performance and how compact this powerful scanner is and would recommend it for anyone in the market for a great document and receipt scanner.

However, there are probably not a number of people who have needs for scanning pages wider than that of the current capacity. To operate your Epson WorkForce ES-500W II Wireless Color Document Scanner using compatible Android or Apple iOS devices, just go to the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store and download the free and easy-to-use Epson Smart Panel app. Like all the other Epson software, this one is user-friendly and intuitive, too. PAPER SCANNING I tested the scanner using a plethora of paper types, weights and sizes, including papers with specialty finishes, such as matte and glossy finishes. I also tested a variety of receipts, most of which were originally printed onto thermal receipt tapes. I scanned newsprint pages, pages from magazines, pages taken from books, real and home-printed photos, auto-developed Polaroid pictures, tracing paper, cardstock, copy paper, cover and papers with a variety of weights, envelopes, printed invitations, postcards, notebook paper (3-hole type, non-perforated), and even a few laminated pages of paper. I was surprised not to encounter a single jam in all of these test scans. I didn’t even have a bit of trouble when I scanned two-sided pages. To add to my surprise, when I had multiple pages in a stack of papers placed into the auto-document feeder, scans were effortless and trouble-free. Believe it or not I didn’t experience one single instance in which multiple pages were mistakenly drawn into the scanner at the same time. POSITION DOCUMENTS FACE DOWN & TOP DOWN (or, headfirst). When using the ADF, position the first side or page of your document facing down, head first into the device. That is, with the document’s first side’s (or, page’s) left, top corner positioned facing the rear of the scanner and parallel to the scanner’s left side. MEASUREMENTS With both trays and both trays’ tabs fully extended, this lightweight-but-heavy-duty scanner weighs just X pounds (excluding the scanner’s external power adapter and cord)/ However, this scanner still has a small form factor to make placement even in tight places possible. Nearest approximate measurements in inches are provided in the diagram below. SUGGESTION FOR IMPROVEMENT The only thing I noted which left room for improvements had to do with its limited width. I use this for my home bills and a multitude of other paperwork. The speed and ease of use is awesome. Another great thing about this, when you see it fully open, the features really really do everything you need to help you with organizing your paperwork and the clutter is GONE all GONE but the other great thing, when you are done using it, they way it folds up, you wouldn’t believe how small it gets, it’s the size of a loaf of rye bread. The Epson - WorkForce ES-500W II Wireless Duplex Desktop Document Scanner is my favorite appliance in my Home Office. It has a very small footprint (6.6" Wide) & blends with any office decor. I was shocked on my first scan by the speed & resolution of the image! The paper zoomed through the scanner, producing a beautiful image of BOTH SIDES of the paper! There are many options: Scan to Print, to Desktop, to Dropbox, to Email, just to name a few. Scan JPEG, PDF, and many other options. Load up to 50 pages at once & work as it scans both sides simultaneously at up to 35 copies / minute (black) or slightly slower for color. I set my DPI to 300. It came default at 200 DPI & will go as high as 1200 DPI. I elected to connect this scanner wirelessly using WIFI, rather than USB. The Wireless Networking capability is amazing! Equally simple to connect on both my Windows 10 & my MacOS 10.14.6 without using USB. I can access it from another computer in the house over 50 feet away using WIFI. It is QUIET! You can have a Zoom Meeting while this Scanner is working without conflict. Easy to identify LED's show connectivity on the front panel. Please see 6) photos I posted that show this scanner in use on my desk. CONCLUSION: The Epson WorkForce ES-500W II is the BEST Office Scanner I have ever owned & I have owned virtually every brand in existence. It is my favorite appliance in my office & I recommend it without reservation!
