About this product
ERAAS is a tribal atmospheric quartet based in Brooklyn led by it's two founding members Robert Toher and Austin Stawiarz which arose from the ashes of New England-based project Apse in 2011, forming with the desire to create more ritualistic and darker themes. Live, the band, generally as a four-piece, elicit foreboding, cautionary themes, mixing driving percussion, Krautrock basslines tangled with hypnotic guitars and ethereal vocals. ERAAS decided to retreat to an area steeped in history and it's own distinct atmosphere - all deserted hill towns and melancholy beauty - to make this record. The decision paid rich creative dividends - this is an album that's heavy with both an ominous mood & a certain orchestral grandeur.

From the brief dialogue that precedes the pummeling beats of opener InchLooking GlassInch to the closing hiss and crackle of the title track, INITIATION represents a coming of age for the band. INITIATION is the culmination of the different themes explored there, honed, refined, pushed further and fashioned into it's own unique world.

2013 , the fourth album from Chicago powerhouse quartet Disappears. Insular and dark, the album sees the band further refining their love of cub, minimalism and repetition into their most original and stark (re Suicide-esque) set yet, harkening back to the early '80s Post Punk period, when almost anything seemed possible with the classic two guitar line, bass and drums line up, and exploration and expansion of what could done with these elements was at the fore.
