Erskine,Peter / Pasqua,Alan / Colley,Scott - Peregrine - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Nothing Matters, Diamond Youth's' debut full length, was produced by Davey Warsop and continues the bands 90's alt-rock influenced sound from their past releases. Taking influence from Weezer, Foo Fighters and Jimmy Eat World, Nothing Matters proves that Diamond Youth have a sound of their own and one that keeps you wanting more.

He is one of Sweden's most personal trumpet players, a musician whose manner of expression is as timeless as it is modern. On his new CD InchAspirationInch we can also hear Peter Asplund in his rather lesser known role as jazz vocalist.” I want to show my full spectrum of colors, for the first time letting the jazz trumpeter and the jazz singer-artist-entertainer live side by side,Inch says Peter Asplund.AspirationInch took shape during a couple of intensive days in the studio. Outside, autumn storms were raging; inside, open musical conversations over a dozen durable standards was the agenda.

The Tony Award-winning play, written by Warren Leight, is set in New York City between the years of 1953 and 1985, and it chronicles the life and lifestyle of a jazz trumpeter, exploring the creative forces which drive a musician and binds him ever closer to his fellow jazzmen while tearing his own family apart. It's a wonderful play, and the cast and crew for this productions are all brilliant. The interesting thing about this production is the use of a newly-recorded score (as opposed to the Inchneedle dropInch scoring solution used in previous productions of the show in New York and elsewhere), and I was very lucky to get the call from director Andy Robinson to write the music. Be-bop lives! Peter Erskine scored the production with a jazz quintet. The WDR Big Band also makes a guest appearance.
