Charles Stepney gained worldwide success as the producer for Earth Wind & Fire and Deniece Williams but the producer and arranger's earlier work at Chess is now regarded as some of the most original ever laid to tape, and in the past 20 years has become a primary influence on scores of producers and arrangers, with his records being sought after by DJs and collectors. Despite a couple of attempts, his most important work has never been compiled on one volume until now. This compilation gathers up his most famous productions for the likes of Rotary Connection - and their singer Minnie Riperton, Ramsey Lewis, Terry Callier, Marlena Shaw and the Dells. An influence on everyone from Masters At Work to Radiohead, Charles Stepney's production for the Chess labels captured the spirit of the era by mixing soul, jazz, electronics, composed music and a touch of psychedelia, all arranged brilliantly and produced to an incredibly high standard. Shockingly there has never been a compilation dedicated to this area of his work, something that we are rectifying with InchEternal JourneyInch. Stepney was a jobbing arranger when Marshall Chess recruited him to co-produce his new project Rotary Connection, which allowed him to realise his symphonic productions. With the success of their debut album, Stepney was recruited to work on many of the labels most important artists including Ramsey Lewis, Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf and The Dells. He also took on his own projects working with Phil Upchurch, Terry Callier and others. Beautifully remastered and housed in a sleeve based on a 1960s Rotary Connection Billboard Magazine advert, this is 16 tracks of Chicago brilliance. Compilation producer Dean Rudland has told the story of Stepney's emergence through his most dazzling work and also their building blocks in the day to day arrangements from R&B and soul stars such as Little Milton and Bud

First in a decade, and the dawn of the new Hepburns era. The philosophy of The Hepburns is intact and shining character sketches inimitably drawn (presumably from the pages of InchClinker,Inch Matt's novel in progress), and a knack for precisely arranged guitars and backing vocal flourishes which speak pure caprice. The cinematic sensibility which was lost on the UK press ten years earlier is still there, and quite possibly stronger than ever. A soundtrack for a film set in a village of dilapidated buildings, obsolete soda pop machines, and gardens, haunted with the ghosts of boxers, Disney's pirates, Nick Drake, and Jackie Onassis.
The distinctive sound of The Eternal is a fusion of dark, melancholic, and emotive Metal with influences from both Doom and Progressive genres. The most recent incarnation of the band includes Jan Rechberger (Amorphis) and Niclas Etelävuori (ex-Amorphis / Flat Earth) along with longtime members Mark Kelson & Richie Poate. Having evolved into a truly international collaboration, with half of the members being based in Melbourne, Australia, and the other half in Helsinki, Finland, the band's seventh studio album 'Skinwalker' promises a continuation of their rich musical legacy and yet is set to be a defining moment creatively for the band. The album features several notable guest appearances including Tomi Joutsen (AMORPHIS), Santeri Kallio (AMORPHIS), Sami Yli-Sirniö (KREATOR) and award-winning Tuvian throat singer Albert Kuvezin (YAT-KHA) to name a few. Recorded at drummer Jan Rechberger's Moon Unit Studios and produced by the band's own Mark Kelson, Richie Poate as well as Rechberger, the record was also mixed by Mark and Jan before sending it off to Crystal Mastering in Melbourne, Australia. In the end, creative force Kelson was even responsible for the InchSkinwalkerInch artwork, supported by Travis Smith (OPETH, AMORPHIS etc.) with regards to layout duties.

Recorded at the Coltrane Studio, Dix Hills, New York on November 8, 1970 and live at the Village Gate, New York, New York on July 4, 1970. Originally released on Impulse (9203). Includes liner notes by Alice Coltrane. The death of John Coltrane left not only a musical, but a spiritual void among his many followers and admirers. By aligning himself with the searchers among the new generation, John Coltrane legitimized their quest and set a daunting standard of excellence for those who experiment outside the mainstream of modern jazz. Among those searchers was young Alice McLeod of Detroit, a virtuoso on the vibraphone, piano, organ and harp. John Coltrane had always expressed a fondness for the harp, and while young McLeod never did bring that instrument into the context of Trane's working groups, she did bring her rolling, ecstatic style of piano to bear in the saxophonist's last quartets and quintets as Mrs. Alice Coltrane. JOURNEY IN SATCHIDANANDA, recorded in the fall of 1970, is a serene, composed meditation on the lessons of the 1960's, a mystical work of enduring sweetness and spiritual longing. The concluding cut InchIsis And OsirisInch (recorded earlier that summer at the Village Gate), is a global village of texture and song, animated by Pharaoh Sanders' gently wafting soprano and Rashied Ali's quicksilver brushwork, as Vishnu Wood's feathery oud, Charlie Haden's woody bass and Coltrane's sweeping harp combine to create a dreamy vortex of sound. The title cut and InchShiva-LokaInch-centered around Cecil McBee's sonorous, lyric bass vamps and Tulsi's droning tambourine-are gorgeous evocations of modal jazz and Indian ragas, again exploiting the contrast between Sanders' reedy chants and Coltrane's blissful arpeggios.
