Great game, intelligent shooter
Evolve is an exciting yet intelligent shooter. It has pulse pounding action along with the right amount of tension. It's progression system does however leave something to be desired and monster gameplay does have a steep learning curve but overall the pros outweigh the cons, be warned this is not call of duty!!

Best played with friends
Evolve is a game that finally breaks the mold of the regular shooter multiplayer games. A team of 4 hunters battle against a human controlled monster. Playing as the monster instantly makes you feel as though you are controlling the boss character of a game. Different abilities plus your strength and speed allow you to completely dominate the hunters. Especially when they are uncoordinated and travel solo. When playing as the Hunters you must rely on your team and each members unique abilities to hunt and kill the beast. BUY A MIC. TEAM CHAT REQUIRED. I recommend this game for people who want a change from COD, Battlefield, or Halo. Get your friends together and have tons of fun for hours. If you need new friends this is a great game to make some. You all have the same goal.

Very fun
Really enjoy this game a lot. It's still really fun playing by yourself however I would recommend it even more if you have regular buddies that you game with, because it becomes a really fun party experience . I like all the characters, 12 in total with more on the way, and 3 monsters, again with more in future DLC. I like how these characters are each unique in their own way and add something new to each match. Story is a bit bleak but in no way a deal breaker, and to me it seems like you would play this game not for the story but for its unique gameplay. I'll also say that there are 3 different game modes that help to beat the monotony of just hunting all the time. But in short, it's a great game in my opinion do check this one out at some point.

fresh and innovative shooter
There are many 1 and 2 star reviews from people who can't look past the fact that there are a lot of paid (but completely optional) DLC options for this game. I have not bought any DLC, and I am stil having a blast! The game is a breath of fresh air for shooters. I thoroughly enjoy the hide-and-seek aspect of this game, which could easily have turned out to be a total gimmick had another developer tried this. The necessity of cooperation and teamwork to take down the monster gives this game more depth than your average run-and-gun shooter. I only wished that there was a bit more depth and character to the maps, as most places end up feeling the same, regardless of any aesthetic differences.

Has potential, but...
The idea behind Evolve is excellent- team up with three other players to go hunt and kill a player-controlled monster before it evolves into an unstoppable force and destroys your fire team. Unfortunately it is not executed very well. If you have a friends list full of people who own Evolve, then this game can be a blast- for a while. The missions do get a little repetitive, but the character progression is fun and unlocking new characters and abilities keeps it interesting. If you don't have friends who also own Evolve, I would recommend staying away. I tried it and getting paired with random folks online is a gamble- some don't have mics (communication is essential for success), some are incompetent and won't stay together, but sometimes you do get lucky and get some decent people to play with. It's just not very consistent. The controls of the game feel a little floaty and loose compared to other popular FPS games. I really like the fact that each character plays a role that is absolutely necessary for success, but things can easily get out of control and the game's physics make it difficult to stay on track. With practice, this can be overcome- it just takes some getting used to. In summary, if you have friends who are willing to play this with you, Evolve might be worth a shot. However, if you are buying this to play by yourself, I'd recommend passing on it and getting something that is suited more to single player.
