Banda Citta Di Fasano Ignazio Ciaia Sabatelli - Il Maestro Dimenticato - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Ten years after the death of Don Salvatore Pappagallo, which occurred on June 17, 2011, this tag wanted to dedicate the recording of two of his great works, Easter and The Beatitudes, transcribed for band by Maestro Silvestro Sabatelli, along with two others, A mio Padre by Alfredo Fiorentini and Il Trombettista by Sabatelli himself. A tribute to the band tradition and to the tradition of the funeral march that Don Salvatore was able to interpret with the depth of popular culture and Christian religiosity. Born in Molfetta on June 21, 1931, don Salvatore undertook the priestly life uniting it deeply with the musical one. Together with the ecclesial experience of assistant FUCI (Italian Catholic University Federation) in the post-conciliar years and that of director of the Schola Cantorum of the Pontifical Regional Seminary of Molfetta, he built his musical training with the masters Armando Renzi (composition), Nicola Samale (conducting), Michele Marvulli, Marcel Couraud (perfecting choral conducting), Luigi Celeghin. He has taught at the Conservatories InchE.R. DuniInch in Matera and InchN. PiccinniInch in Bari; he has been at the head of the Choir and Orchestra InchJ. SalepicoInch, an institution born within the Association and Popular School InchA. DvorakInch of which he was founder and president until his death. He has been Maestro di Cappella of the Cathedral Chapter of Molfetta. Graduated in composition, conducting, piano and specialized in choral and organ conducting, he wanted to make up for the scarce musical and liturgical knowledge of the people, dedicating himself with passion and sacrifice to the young generations of his territory, building an associative and training experience so deep to constitute a generation of musicians that still today recognize him as their mentor and teacher.

Various Artists - Bande Italiane / Various - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

La banda is the organic concept of an Italian orchestra that is without strings, relying completely on wind instruments and percussion. In the late 19th century there was not a town, city or community that did not have at least one banda. According to conservative estimates, Italy still has at least 5,000. In Italian, banda means not just a local brass band, but also a gang of bandits. It is surely no coincidence that musicians who are more likely to come from the alternative music scene also use this ambiguity to express what differentiates them from the rest. What is emerging is neither a revival nor a revolution, it is much more.

Judy Bailey - Colours - VINYL LP

Behind the deceptive veneer of the demure monotone artwork, something unassuming lies within this long-play waiting to be explored. Intrigued by the ironic title, enticed by the elegant text positioned alone on the beautifully tactile matte canvas, the listener will experience musical wonderment at odds with the presentation and discover that the 1976 album 'Colours' is a powerful yet sophisticated set of electric soul-jazz. An inspired recording that bursts with warmth and texture, the pivotal recording from an exceptional jazz musician. HER name - Judy Bailey.Over the course of a 70 year career, the pianist and composer established herself as one of the central figures of Australian jazz. Her crowning achievement 'Colours' is a spirited and ambitious recording that captured the maturation and shifting jazz landscape of the mid 1970s Australia. Alongside other notable albums recorded mid decade including the 1975 self titled album by Melbourne's Arena (see Roundtable SIR014)) and Jackie Orszaczky's 'Beramiada' (1975), the album signaled the country's transition from semi-acoustic jazz to electric jazz-funk. Regularly compared to the albums released on Creed Taylor's CTI tag, 'Colours' parallel these recordings with their clean production and spacious soul-jazz arrangements. In particular the crisp drums and processed bass heard on Bob James and Joe Farrell albums, the sprightly flute of Hubert Laws or perhaps the more sensual side of Flora Purim's vocals could all be suggested as a source of influence.Continuing to celebrate and re-document Australia's jazz music legacy, The Roundtable are pleased to offer the first vinyl reissue of this seminal Australian Jazz recording. Presented in a replica gatefold sleeve with new liner notes, the full palette can once again be appreciated including the moody funk of 'Fall Down Dead', the Iberian Waltz of 'Toledo', the Jazz-Danc
